This winter i'm going to be skiing pretty much every wednesday. I wondered if there was anybody else here who is also available on Wednesdays from about 9-5 who would like to join me?
Michelle :)

Well I live in a village called Cruseilles... which is half way to Annecy from Geneva. I'm looking at getting a season pass for a resort within about an hours drive from me. A lot of my friends say that they ski at La Clusaz, so it may be this one... unless anyone has some better advice?!

Hi Michelle,
...i thought about getting a season pass for avoriaz last year as i live in central geneva and its only about an hours drive, but then after checking out the prices, I came to the conclusion that i'd have to go every single weekend to get my moneys worth... fine, but what if theres no snow!?... what if i want to go somewhere else for variety?... what if its packed with holiday makers and too busy to board?... my therory is, unless you can get a really, really good deal on the season pass, is it worth it when living so close to so many top resorts!?... i decided not...
just my 5 pence worth!!
cheers

I live just outside Geneva and plan to get a season pass for the Portes de Soleil. I've worked out that I'll need to do 18 days of snowboarding in the area in order to make it cheaper than buying day passes - which I think will be no problem. It also comes with a number of free days in other resorts - e.g. Chamonix which is great.
With a number of resorts to choose from within the PDS area I don't think I'll get bored and Avoriaz certainly has a good record for being snow sure so I'm not too worried about the conditions not being great.
I may be free some Wednesdays Michelle if you don't mind a snowboarder? I will let you know when the season is underway. Les Gets/Morzine/Avoriaz or La Clusaz would all be good options.

Hi Wednesday people
It's great to be free midweek as the slopes are generally not so crowded.
But it's still better to ski in snow sure resorts and do some deals.
The Geneva & Lausanne ski group are getting some interested people together particularly for Avoriaz as it's accesssible from both Sides of the Lac and it has the best snow record within 1 hour's travel from Geneva or Lausanne.
The group is run by members-for more info ring Malcolm or Maggie on 077 207 0631 or email gal.ski@bluewin.ch
cheers

Yes I am! Do you want to go?
@ Michelle waters. AS a fellow snowboarder i can definately reccomend La Clusaz as a good ski resort close to Annecy or Geneva. Any sking during off peak days such as during the week or wednesday will be cheaper and better skiing then on weekends. I might be going to La Clusaz on weekdays as well.
