Greetings,

To all those who already participated or wish to climb a Via Ferrata in the Geneva area - and beyond.

We have created a list-server in order to keep you posted of future activities (including Ferratas, Mountain Bike, White-water rafting, hydrospeed, etc.) .

You can also view pictures of our latest challenges :-) http://groups.google.com/group/viaferratas

If you want to be posted, drop me a note with your email address.

I'd love to participate in some of these activities. Do you only go in the Geneva area?

We're planing to go to Valais, and possibly to Southern France for a week-end should there be enough participants and interest.

- Where are you based?
- Any ferrata in your neighbourhood?

So far we did:
- Fort l'Ecluse (F) (medium - duration: <1H)
- Curalla (F) (medium+ duration: <2h)
- Abondance, aka Saix de Miolène (F) (difficult duration: up to 4H (if you do the 3 segments))

I'd like to organize the following ones in diablerets: http://www.diablerets.ch/web/article.php?sid=9

Best,
eXodus

Thanks for the details. Do we need to have any Via Ferrata experience to join? I've never been until now. I'd be interested in joining so I'd appreciate more details when you have some.

Depending on the level of the VF, you need or not some experience. Most important is to have the appropriate gear.

You can easily do Fort l'Ecluse + Currala with no experience.

wow! What great photos  quickly had a glance at them, and what beautiful weather you had... and the view from above!

so, i can see you climb up and along pegs and walk across dangling foot bridges, but how do you go down? the same way you came or walk down a different path down the mtn?

Thank you for your comment YMK!!!

It would be difficult to go down the same way: crossing other climbers would be risky and finding footsetps downwards is a bit more difficult, i would think.

We came down via a simple hiking path which is also enjoyable! I think there are some pictures of the way back too on the picasa album.

- Shall we count on you for the next VF ?
- If you send me your email address I can add you to the recipient list for the next VF hikings.

actually, without mentioning the event name, looking at the photos reminded me of last year's cliff climbing hiking event in the middle of the night with no ropes or clips!

i'll only consider doing this event on the easiest of levels where widest gap between pegs is no more than what a 150cm person is capable of reaching
