I've never had a problem with IKEA furniture, but there are lots of people who have no idea how to assemble it. Even extremely smart people such as Stephen Fry.
(I wish I could help you but my weekend and early next week are pretty full already).

Just put up 3 cupboards, a chest of drawers and some shelving... IKEA is definitely not worth the savings.... 2 cupboard doors don't fit, missing the notorious 2 screws for one side and the diagrams never matched the pieces i had... i would offer to help but i need a few strong drinks and a long rest to get over my nightmare experience

The items you have should be ok, the wardrobes are the real pain to put together at IKEA... mine had more that 600 parts :|
IKEA has different ranges and while some items are flimsy, others are incredibly solid and aestethically pleasing. long live their 90 day return policy, I replaced about 1/4 of the stuff I had originally bought.

DJ: I'm totally with you on the approach to Ikea. I like their stuff, but HATE putting it together. Each time I order stuff there, I just fork out the extra money to have one of their own people come over and put it together for me. I tend to but a lot of stuff together, so there's some scale benefits there.
On the rare occasion I did have to put the stuff together myself I just hated it! Guess I'm more made for typing on a key board...(-;

Basicly, I just sit on the PC all day working on BuyClub and glocals. Someone else cooks for me and chews the food for me, and then builds my IKEA stuff.

On a different note, when i put together my closet following the steps carefully it turned out that my doors are really not hanging straight. Anyone know how to take care of that? i can't be bothered to dismount it and exchange it. And the doors were still crooked when i sobered up... I reread the thing and backtracked the step-by-steps but doesn't seem like i missed anything.
Anyone also have a recurring problem of left over pieces once they're done putting the furniture together?

The hinges on IKEA cupboards are adjustable... but you have to fiddle quite a lot to get them to adjust the way you want.. that and if the furniture is not on a flat surface, or the back was nailed on leaving the piece not really straight, then they'll be a bit lopsided!
