it's quite possible that it's not Good but i can do it very good dont worry i am confident that i can do every thing which many people thinks and seems impossible. mistake is the part of every peson's life but its also become the cause of improvements in personalty of human beings  .....your judgment offten  become wrong and your prode often ruine you when u think that i am superiour then others and other never ever do that which i can ............

How the english speak foreign languages 

Hello,

I have a good friend who also has difficulties with speaking & writing in English,

He is a diplomat and is very proud. Somehow his culture does not allow him to accept critisim and admit that he may not be that good in English. We often argue about it but finally he understood that it is worse to say tha he is excellent when it is not true.

This does not mean that he is not smart or does a bad job. It only means that he has some place to improve,

So, do not take our comments as an offense as they really just show that you have some problems still with speaking fluently without mistakes.

We (non-native speakers) all had this experience at one point in our life. Most of us lived in an English speaking territory that helped to over-come the issues you are facing for the moment.

In our (European) culture, we tend to point out issues like yours but it is nothing to do with defeating someone or destroying someone. It is an observation and it is your choice to take it and work on your English or get upset about it.

And yes, you can be proud about yourself that you made it to Geneve.

For many people here it is natural to learn languages from a very early age, travel and have good schooling etc...and they do not necessarily realize how much people from less advanced and poorer countries achieve by learning to speak a foreign langugage at least a little! It is not at all something obvious...

So, hope apart from this language thing I hope your stay in Geneve will be pleasant and you will make many friends from all aroumd the world.

Ps, you see I also make mistakes....as I did not use spell check and did not read what I wrote before pushing the "post" sign.

Tauseef: I apologize for the way people are treating you in this thread. Apparently they believe that because you are not fluent they can ridicule your ability. Don't let this stop you from speaking and writing whenever you can; your English is good enough for us to understand you and only by practicing will you improve your skill.

It's definitely also a great idea to learn a bit of French while you're here.

Edward Boon thanks a lot for ur sympathies no need to apologies .The people often think that they are perfect in something  it is quite possible that they are perfect in English language speaking an writing and they never do mistake in their lives..... and they learn a lot... but i will never ever stop to write i have many Friends like Edward who will motivate me and their motivation will give me courage..... i am not a native speaker.. but with my hard work and pure interest I will lean good language . Edward I am very thank full to you whom give me very good and positive  response and u judge what is wrong with those who know something better than me and how they do behave whom never have equal knowledge like them ….

Good luck with your english studies Tariq! And just a suggestion, why not offer to do a language exchange of your own native language for French? Geneva is an international city and the number of languages spoken here is impressive. I would recommend that you post an advertisement in the Ecole de traduction et interprétation in Unimail.

hi manics i respect your openion but there is a problem my native language is Urdu or Punjabi because i am from pakistan.... and people often take interest to learn english and other language like French and German.... i think it is the problem..
