Brazilians need housing in Geneva from July 1st-6th

Hi  everybody,

My name is Amanda.

Me and my husband are both Brazilians living in the United States for 3 and a half years now. We came to the US to get our Master's degree in Music and ended up staying because we both got  a job :)

We are very social, love being around people and meeting new friends.

I am arriving in Geneva  on July 1st. I was granted a scholarship to participate in a summer course at the Institut Jaque-Dalcroze!

This is a dream coming true for me!!!

I joined this group because I want to meet people in Geneva and also I am trying to find more affordable HOUSING. Since everything seems quite (not to say very) expensive....

WE NEED A PLACE TO STAY ONLY FOR NEXT WEEK - Sunday through Friday (July 1st -6th). We Would be gald to pay for it (of course :-)), and I much rather help out ($) someone staying at theis place, intead of paying for a big hotel/business.

So, I would appreciate any help. If you can reccomend us a place to stay, or if you know of someone who would like to rent a room for a week....That would be great!

Meanwhile, I'll be visiting this forum and connecting to more people!

Have a wonderful day, everybody!

Hello Amanda! Congratulations!

Hope you enjoy your summer course and your stay.

There are some short term apartments that you can rent around Geneva. like http://genprop.ch/en/index.php

@ ANNI

GENPROP ? Are you kidding me?

Do you think normal to pay 350 CHF for a parking spot when the max for a parking box is 250 CHF.

Do you think normal to pay 3500 CHF for 65 m2 when the max is around 2000-2200 CHF.

etc..... And the prices that I am giving you, are already very high !!!

I really think that you should not advertise this kind of website. There are not only expatriates extra rich in Geneva. Expatriates are also made of students, interns etc.... We should at least give them a fair picture of Geneva. We should not advice them to contact a company that are really making fun of them-

Hi. I was not advertising. I was just trying to help. Sorry if I offended you?

And I honestly thought a 100 chf a day was fair for that kind of place. considering i just came from a vacation in London where I paid around that price per night for a terrible terrible terrible room (terrible-- smelled, leaking, dirty, small. it was just a room, without kitchenette, etc).

of course, if you stay for a month in a place like genprop it will be expensive. if you stay for a longer period, then you better get a more permanent one which gives better rates. but, i just thought 700 chf for a week in a short term apartment is better than staying in a hotel.

Amanda is just staying for a week. of course there are better options ( staying with a family perhaps?). and as i said, expats who stay longer do have options to rent a cheaper apartment (if they can, with all requirements needed), etc, etc.

Again, I was just giving an option. They're smart people, they know their budget, etc. They can decide intelligently

I understand you if you are not working for them lol :-)

Unfortunately, lots of people get a wrong idea of the price and don't even know what it is the fair price.

To give you an idea, I have a 68m2 and I couldn't rent it more than CHF 1'920 per month furnished i.e. gas, electricity hot water. I could only add the internet. It was a rule with my real estate agency...  So when i see 3'500 CHF per month for the same size, I believe that they make fun of the distress of people in order to put a lot of money in their pocket.... But I agree that it might be a solution if you don't find anything else for a short period, but if they were fair they will decrease at least their price per month...

So don't worry :-)) I understand your point of view
