Computer components - where do you shop?

I'm designing a new rig and was wondering where you guys buy your components from, be it online or offline?

If anyone has fiddled with oil-cooling by immersion, I'd be interested to hear more..

I would suggest PRODIMEX

http://www.prodimex.ch/

Rue Antoine-Jolivet 7  1227 Carouge GE 022 308 66 66

They sell on good prices, you can still find cheaper rate online but there you can go and have a look yourself.

Let me know if you still need more info!

Zonker, what's your favourite 800-1000 watt ATX supply?  I'm going for an SLI rig (eventually) and I'm leaning toward the Seasonic X-1050 but I'm a little miffed at their poor customer service reputation.  Considering Swiss retailers who don't give a flying fsck at a rolling donut when it comes to customer satisfaction, I'm worried that I'll be dealing with Dumb and Dumber if I stumble upon a defective unit.

Any thoughts?

There is also Steg Computer (on-line and a shop in Vernier).

Click on Vernier to get the details/map etc.

Personally I only shop at Digitec.ch as the product range is great i've only had good experiences with the customer services and staff there, and there's a store in just about every big city to take your stuff back to if there's a problem.

I'll probably be building a new HTPC rig too soon and that's where i'll get my stuff from.

@richardm even for an SLI rig a 1000w PSU isn't necessary... a good 750-850w will be more than enough juice unless you plan on running a warehouse full of gear. I can reccommend Corsair or Seasonic. :)

I shopped most of my things at Ordi1000.ch and Prodimex (both shops are very close to eachother).

I would not advice shopping at Abbo informatique.

Regarding Digitec.ch - From what I can see their products are overpriced.

Digitec are only ovepriced if you rely on Toppreise.ch as your sole source of quantifying value. 80% of Swiss online electrical shops have next to non-existant levels of customer service, and there are numerous horror stories of places like PowerCH having no products in stock and then people waiting weeks and months to get stuff. Digitec may be slightly (and I mean slightly on average) more expensive, but they have numerous brick and mortar stores within easy reach, and that peace of mind in a country where customer rights mean sod-all is definitely worth the extra few francs over other places.

In short, while Toppreise.ch is good to check prices, I wouldn't rely on it for things as important as computer parts, where warranty and after-sales service can be key, when buying them. :)
