Let me clarify this by telling you my story !

On Wednesday I saw some of my friends were  going to Friday Drinks on Glocals! The title was Friday drinks nothing more!  I thought I may go and see my friends there and get to know others! Then on Friday one of my dearest friends sends me a message that he is not coming because he has received a message that “Hey, not sure if you saw, but the drinks tonight are mainly for ages below 30... That is what below 30 should mean for most people at least. You are receiving this because you are older than 35.”

I was shocked! I knew there was a young group on Glocals but I didn’t think that the event was only organized for who are 30 or below! I went to the page, till around 3 pm the title was still the same but I tried to figure out where it has actually said only for under 30 and I found out  at the end of the page event ( before the comments) it was written : And small question for some of the guys. If you are in or around 40 years old, you really think drinks for below 30 years old people is right place for you?

Yesterday apparently later than 3 pm the title was changed ( after all disrespectful messages were sent)

Now :  what is the problem with that ? Firstly it was not clarified! You may not need glasses and you still may not notice the sentence at the end of the page!

Secondly the language : instead of clarifying and saying that this is mainly for people who are under 30, the statement  both on Glocals event page and in the private messages were disrespectful  “That is what below 30 should mean for most people at least” and “you really think drinks for below 30 years old people is right place for you”?

I actually went to the event to see the organizer and talk to him! In some ways he ignored me. Then I saw his post today , which was offensive again. he says :…. Am I just doomed to get these retards poking on my event every time and even shall I just stop trying to have something organized for specific age group?

There is nothing wrong with being a retard! There is nothing wrong with being over 30 ! Wrong is the abusive language! Wrong is when you clearly do not state what you aim for and then blame people why they attend!

After all the organiser is only a medium! Nothing more! The organizer should not be able to send disrespectful messages. The organizer has to be clear at the first place, it is his responsibility, he cannot rely on two sentences at the end of the page or the box near RSVP to say this event is only for under thirty!

I am against any age discrimination on any event ! But apparently, people are free to do whatever they want as long as it is not against the law! May be we still need some laws on age discrimination in this place! Because always RULES rule us not us! Because always, in this patriarchal society, someone should tell us how to behave!
