French Class/School any recommendations?

Hello,

Together with a friend, we are looking for a French language teacher, or French language school (to join a class), prefereably in Geneva or Nyon. Classes twice a week,  after 6pm o'clock, around 1,5-2 hours per meeting.

Can anyone recommend anything?

Many thanks in advance,

Alicja

Hey! I'm new to Geneva and if you have any luck finding anything, could you let me know? Really interested in joining a French class.

Hello

I would highly recommend Ecole Club Migros french classes: http://www.ecole-club.ch/Offres/Langues/Cours-de-francais. They are great value when compared to french schools based in Geneva and have classes available in the evenings, once or twice a week depending on your preference. I am currently taking evening classes there for the past 3 months from 7 - 9 pm for example. What I appreciated in particular about Migros is that they are transparent about their course prices on their website, unlike the majority of schools in Geneva which I found were not forthcoming in providing the exact amount required for each course even after I contacted them. Migros also have a straight-forward process for signing up - for the classes I am taking for the French certificate DELF exam I just had to do an online test so I could be placed in a course that suits my level. The teacher I have is great fun, while committed to ensuring all aspects of learning the French language are covered and she provides us with plenty of course materials in addition to those that you can purchase yourself from the school.

Hope that helps!

Bonjour Ala,

Ther are a few small private schools, some of them offer good quality classes...Take time to see what they offer and first of all if their time table suits you !

The main 2 ones in Geneva are Ifage and Migros école-club. I would not say one is better than the other simply because quality depends to a large extent on teachers and - at least until a few years ago...- many teachers worked for both school. In order to have a decent salary...at the end of the month.

Université de Genève offers good courses but you can have access only if you are a registered student at University. Otherwse, they offer good value summer classes for all. you can check their website anyway : http://www.unige.ch/lettres/elcf/fr/coursappui/

The cheapest place but it is only a few hours per week is http://www.upcge.ch/en/courses

Bonne chance !
