Notaries

Hello,

We have several documents (bank, passport copies) that need to be certified.  Does anyone have recommendations for a notary who won't charge us an arm and a leg?  Cheers!

If you can get to your emabassy or consulate, they will do it for no charge.

I do not think that the British Consul in Geneva offers this type of service anymore. Please check beforehand. The Embassy in Bern also has many less services than before.

The UK Consulate in Geneva was closed some five years ago.

As for the Embassy in Bern, it is best to check first whether they can still offer such a service.

In this case it would be the US embassy but I believe it is also in Bern.

Any recommendations for notaries in Geneva?

Many thanks!

All foreign embassies are based in Bern because Bern is the capital of Switzerland.

If it's just passport copies, it can be done at your post office, they will charge you 15 CHF per copy if I remember correctly. I guess they can do it for other documents too: show the original, show the copy, pay your due, they will put a certification stamp in the copy. This was enough for me to open a bank account without having to be present.
