Online divorce

For those who have an agreement on the terms of their divorce, just want to let you know that online divorce sites exist in Switzerland too! I can recommend two sites I have heard about on the market : wwweasydivorce.ch and www.click-divorce.ch

you can save a lot of money and time.  the cost is about chf 800-900.- only.

Thanks Gwen.

I don't get it tho: if a couple has an agreement already and they want the courts to formalize it (which is not mandatory, btw), why shouldn't they just send it right to the courts for approval? What value do the web sites add?

Hello Nir,

I meant an oral agreement. You get the formalization of your oral agreement into the legal documents needed for the court and instructions for a "do it yourself divorce".

Since it is not mandatory in Switzerland to be represented by a lawyer in court for a divorce and knowing how high legal fees can be, it would be interesting for simple, non complicated divorces.

Has anyone ever used this kind of agreement? I have looked at the site and cannot find the information on how long the process takes.

I know it is an old thread but just asking.

In Switzerland, it might prove more difficult than that. I got my divorce in France, and I had to officially legalise it in Geneva to have it recognized. I took me 6 months. Yet everybody in Europe has ratified the Haye convention. But Geneva is a bit picky. and maybe even makes a litlle dime out of it in the process....

Im using turkishdivorce.com for my divorce at the moment because I married a turkish guy in Ankara. They all claim around 6 weeks but the process seems to be much longer than that in reality. Watch this space........

Nir is correct, that court fees are about 600-900

You then just need to complete the necessary documentation yourself. Saving yourself from beginning CHF 500- and upward CHF 20,000? (CHF 20k is the average statistical amount).

Divorce by joint application lasts between 2 and 4 months depending on the load of the court. Divorce is the second leading cause of personal bankruptcy.

I have never experienced this and am genuinely shocked that it is so expensive.Wow!Given the large percentages of marriages that end in divorce, some people are making a fortune out of this.

why on earth does it cost so much? Does anyone know what the costs break down to?
