Just want to know the experiences with the medical insurances in Geneva:
My learning -
1) If your doctor prescribe you the treatment to a Swiss registered doctor then the basic insurance cover the bills for all the treatments.
2) Otherwise it is taken care of only by the "complementaire" part of the medical insurance which one still have to pay the 1st 20% of the cost.
I went out to try 6 centers in Geneva for the quality and seriousness of treatment because generally anyone who "learn" the art can "poke" you but to do it right its another complete different story.
My Finding:
I found only 1 "cabinet" that is able to take charge or cover by my basic medical insurance.
Anyways...I can fully recommend this doctor as he is descendant of 2nd generation of Chinese doctors.
Any comments or insight on this subject is most appreciated.
Cheers,
Mike.

Hi JackieChen,
There are two types of acupuncturists in Geneva:
1) Medical doctors (MDs) - your treatments with them will be covered by your basic medical insurance, unless the Dr tells you otherwise;
2) Traditional acupuncturists, trained specifically as such. You will be reimbursed for their treatments by your complementary medical insurance (-20%), provided your insurer works with their association (ASCA or RME/EMR). You can find an ASCA or RME member close to you here:

I used to go to this place:
http://www.liangshen.org/crbst_1.html
Looks like it's a MTC school now, but they might still do treatments

Slava does it (above) .

I have found this thread a few years back was very useful, just to know in case someone has any updates, about a good acupunture in Geneva (ideally covered by basic insurance) or even in France...

Hi Jessica,
The situation insurance-wise has not changed, please see my post above.
For your acupuncture treatments to be covered by the basic insurance you would usually need to find a medical doctor. In some cases, as JackieChen mentions above, if your doctor prescribes acupuncture you might be able to get reimbursed for your treatments with traditional (non medical) acupuncturists too, but you would need to check with your basic insurance company to confirm.
Good luck!
