Any good restaurants people would recommend in town that are not overly well known?

I am looking for any hidden gems out there.

Thanks very much for sharing any you know of.

I discovered last week with a friend the Restaurant Tout Simplement located in the Eaux-Vives. The terrace is pretty nice when it is sunny and it's not crowed, prices are very correct. Otherwise i heard about Yvette de Marseille, located in the Eaux-Vives too, it seems to be very nice too.

Thanks ladies  - I will try both.

Stephanie - did you have brunch at Restaurant Tout Simplement or an evening meal? The reviews I see are mainly for brunch but look very good!

Maria - when I am really hungry as the portions are so big or the food is so good you cant help but order more?

Thanks again.

No Anthony i went there for lunch^^ But my friend told me that brunch there are very nice, last one is this sunday already, i think it costs around CHF 20. I heard too that the owner is going to sell the restaurant next week, it will still be a restaurant but i don't know after it it will be still so nice.

Both. Whatever you do dont order the assortiment des entrees just for yourself. The thing is huge and it will fill you up!

Portions are very big and even the desserts are enough for two.

Dont go if you are in a hurry as the service is a bit slow, but the waiters are very attentive. We went there twice and both times we got a digestive for free

Thanks very much - the only restaurants I can recommend thus far are in the Eaux-Vives area. La Crise is very good home cooked style food and Au Coin Du Bar is also very good/has an excellent wine cellar you can explore.

For Italian I think Pizza Da Paolo is very good ffor its food/chilled atmosphere and Luigia's likewise though is a bit dressier. You cant book at eaither so be prepared to queue at Luigias no matter if it is a Monday or a Friday.

Hi. I am not sure how I can gauge if it's overly well-known or not. But some of my favorite restaurants are not crowded (and no waiting lines). Like Fontana di Trevi in Petit-Saconnex (I like the tiramisu), or La Brasserie Nouvelle in Avenue Wendt (I like their steak).

Usually my friends and I go to simple places with good food. If we want Chinese food, we go to Le Bonheur in rue de lausanne, or if we want piri-piri, we eat at Ze do Pipo. If we want Korean food, we go to Gaya. If we want paella, we go to Trois Rois. For gambas a gogo, we either go to Le Petit Ocean or Le Corail Rose. For Lebanese cuisine, Layalina is good. And Parfums de Beyrouth. :-) And if we can't decide on what to eat, we go to Kwai at Cornavin. haha

Sometimes, we go to La Certitude. I love their seafood buffet on fridays.

Bon App!

on the rue du lac as you head out of geneva direction versoix, just by the chinese embassy, there is a parking lot... at that parking lot there is a beach bar/restaurant that does fantastic filets de perche with 8 sauces.... its a cash only business, so no CC... but well worth the visit on a summers evening, great setting and great views and good food.

(sadly i keep forgetting the name)

I always recommend L'Esqisse in Eaux Vives (European) and Mamounia (Moroccan) just off Rue du Stand.  Two rather different places, very good food and large portions in both!

Thanks guys, all much apreciated.

If anyone knows a few more with outdoor terrace areas that would also be great as it seems Summer has finally arrived.

There's plenty of them just outside Geneva.  I often go to Le Petit Lac in Corsier or Creux de Genthod in Genthod.  Both by the water with big terraces.  There are all sorts of little places by the water a short cycle away.

For pasta: le point du jour in Petit Saconnex. Everything else they do is fantastic as well, try the deserts! They have a nice terrasse.

For Arab cuisine there is a real gem in Avenue de-Luserna, Servette: le Figuier. Small terrasse (few tables), so booking advisable. A bit on the expensive side, but she prepares everything from scratch every day.

For a nice Brasilian: Barocco Chic in Rue Liotard, Servette

Bon app!
