Best snowboarding (not skiing!) near Geneva?
If you're a boarder, which mountains are best near Geneva? All those gentle flat areas that give skiiers a rest are a pain. If I wanted flats, I'd do cross-country!

Bonus if I can get there by train or bus....

I am a boarder and my favorite is Contamines, France. Large pistes, most of the lifts are chair lifts, huge and beautiful domain, close to Geneva and you can get access by bus. What else would you need?

La Flaine is good because is close, but I find it rather small and not as nice as Contamines. But the slobes are better for beginners.

My swiss buddy told that in Switzerland either Leysin or Diablerets are very good for snowboarding. Apparently Leysin holds an important snowboard championship.

It's a 45 minute drive away from Geneva, and has both begginer and expert slopes that are not too flat and hence great for boarding.

By the way - I saw a ski/snowboard activity just posted on 'member activities'.

There is a huge snow park in Avoriaz if you want to go to France (1h from Geneva).

Otherwise in Switzerland, Verbier is snowboarder's paradise.

Chamonix - especially Les Grands Montets (if you want challenging terrain, steeps etc). Snow park-wise it's not so good.. more of  freeride place with tons of off-piste (a lifetime's worth!).
