Comparing prices supermarket GVA-France

I was recently having a discussion with a friend about how convenient it is to go all the way to France for groceries. I always buy at Coop, which is a few meters away from home (I am more Coop than Migros, but I am willing to compare Migros as well). Over the last weeks my friend has driven me to Annecy and to Ferney. I have been able to compare prices to Coop

So, I started this incredibly nerdy exercise and I thought others would be willing to chip in, or take a look and comment at least.

If you are willing, send me prices of local things you have recently bought and I will add to the table. I don’t think I will be going to the supermarket in a while.

Rules:

Let’s compare similar products and quality
Chicken and meat: Indicate quality and price per Kg.
If you have products you have recently bought and that are not on the list, RIGHT CLICK and comment on the doc and I will add the category and price.

HERE is the Google table: http://bit.ly/XdArOd (it is open for comments)

BTW, i have looked at this http://www.barometredesprix.ch and this http://dupotageralamarmite.over-blog.com/article-j-ai-teste-aller-faire-ses-courses-en-france-est-ce-avantageux-pour-les-suisses-81594672.html (2011), but the products they compare are not what I eat/shop and it is dated. I also read a very heated Glocals forum from 2012 about this… but I would like this post not about the ethics/morals, etc of shopping here or there, but just about prices. I do intend to keep shopping in GVA, but some prices I am discovering are making me want to ride to France more often…

Re: Comparing prices supermarket GVA-France
Post 1

It may be due to the ethical/moral issues people have that people haven't chipped in... but I agree with you and have no moral issue and I think you'll find most things cheaper over the border varying from 5% up to a startling 75%.

Personally i find the brand ranges depressing weak in swiss supermarkets. It reminds me of how apple treat their products and the restrictive nature of their mentality.

For some things I have had to search hi and low in geneva with no joy.

So a look at brand diversity would also be interesting.

But good luck with the document
