Is there a place where you can rent DVDs (films, TV series) in Geneva? I imagine there must be but no one I've asked seems to know...

there are several, maybe you could search through this:
http://yellow.local.ch/fr/q/geneve/Vid%C3%A9oth%C3%A8que.html (not all of the names are DVD rental shops)
and this:

Another option is, If you have a local video shop near where where you live, is just go have and have a look there.
In general, (as far as I have found so far anyway), films that are originally English speaking will have an English version on them, even if the DVD has a french translated title and certainly if the title is still in English. This is what I have found anyway.
I have 2 local DVD shop rentals in the quartier where I live and this has applied to all originally English speaking films I have rented there from recent films to those 10-15 years old at least, if not more..
I can't remember the exact words but there is something like ‘audio’ or ‘langues’ that is shown when the DVD opens up the general menu, and you have to choose to get the English version, you often have to choose the dolby version you want to watch, also. ( I've never really understood that bit ,and all the versions of that have played equally well anyway for me anyway)
There is often an option here for french sub-titles or not too.
Of course the originally French films usually have no English version.
All of this has has been my experience so far anyway with DVDs and I take one or two out a week
I'll be getting something out at the weekend again so I'll write you again then with the exact wording that you will see.
I dont know if it is cheaper to rent online as I havent done it yet but from the video shop the cost is generally 6 francs per film per day, and in my local shops you can take out each DVD for 2 days at the weekend (taken out on Saturday or Sunday) for 8 francs. ?So I presume it will be the same in them all..?

Forgot to add, some video shops have a 'drop off box' that you can drop the DVDs inlate at night/ before the next morning.
Others, you have to be sure to take them back to the shop before it shuts the day following the day you take it out,as they do not have this system.
Where I live one of the shops has this service and the other not.
Each shop will have its own advantages and disdvantages.
In all of them, they have always been very helpful.

oh dear,sorry me again..
Just to say, what I have said applies to quite a few TV series originally in English, in at least one of the shops I go to, (and maybe the other, I haven't looked there)

Thanks everyone. I live in Grand-Lancy but work in central Geneva so somewhere in one of those areas would be great.
Looks from Yellow Pages like As de Couronne in Eaux Vives might be just the ticket.
Again, thanks!

Kate, which area are you looking at? There are a couple of rental shops in our hood (Champel) and both have a good selection of new releases as well as classics, mainstream and indie. One is Golden Sunset (golden-sunset.ch) on Avenue de Miremont and the other is Video Club (2000?) on the Avenue de Champel bend.
One way to explore for others is to run a search on google maps for 'video stores near (enter your address)'
