Dogs and dog walking in Geneva and surrounding area.

Hi all,

My 8 month old Springer x Cocker spaniel will be joining me in Geneva in the next couple of weeks so its time to scout out walks and exercise space! Do you know of any?  Where do you exercise your dogs? I am happy to go further a field and know of many lovely places in the Nyon area.

Also looking for 4 legged playmates for my dog and 2 legged people for me to socialise with at the same time!

Hey, there is a nice forest in Jussy you can try that. I'd love to know other areas if you know any. Our 10 months old labrador would love a playmate too.

It really depends what you're looking for. For short/quick walks there are parcs in Geneva such as Parc des Bastions and Parc des Eaux-VIves. If you want a bit of nature you can go to places around Geneva; I know that there are nice foot paths around Satigny and in the wine area around Nyon. If you're looking for hiking trails there are lots of those in the surrounding hills/mountains.

Also, if you want to start agility lessons with your dog (which is fun, we do it with our dog), you can go to either Bernex or Bellevue. Both are in French but the trainers at both places are fine with English speakers.

I go to the forest in Veryier. Have your vet give you a map of off leash places in Geneva - most helpful.

There is a dog park in Parc Betrand in Champel.  Our year-old dachshund loves to go there.  There are even chairs and benches for the people.

Thanks for all those tips. I have a puppy and am looking for places to take it for walks, preferrably  near Pâquis/Saconnex/Versoix.

She will stay on-leash for the moment though.

Chateaux des Penthes, you can walk up from Jardin Botanique, under the railway bridge, up the hill, to the right you will see a large Parc/ field. Nice restaurant at the top for refreshments + water and doggy bowl.

And by the way, I'm regularly dogsitting, when I'm not traveling myself.
So if you need some help, for a week-end or a longer trip, I would be happy to welcome your Médor.

I'm having dogs myself, so your dog should come along with other dogs, both male and female, and preferably not be a creazy over-energetic large puppy, as one of my dogs is very old and cannot play. Living in a house with a large fenced garden.

If interested, please pm me.

My sopouse and I are new to Geneva and need to find a dog walking/pet sitter for our 8 yr old English Bull Dog.  He is very friendly and likes to sleep.  Requires walking three times a day(morning, afternoon, nightime).  We need to find someone in the 1208 postal code or someone in the Tulipiers/Grange Canale stop area.

Hope to hear from you!  If anyone has someone they would recommend that would be great!  will pay above going rate for good quality care.

Thanks,

Joseph R

Hi all. We as a family are moving to Singapore In August, and we have decided not to take our dog with us, for a variety of reasons, all to the benefit of Rocky our dog. We had some friends who were going to take him and have just pulled out at the last minute which really has left us in the lurch . He is an amazing dog a cross breed of Goldren retriever and Springer Spaniel. He is 8 years old very friendly, loves kids, ( We have two daughters who he has grown up with) He is super social with other dogs, and is an amazing animal. If anyone knows of a family that loves dogs and would like to look after him for us, or even a trial period please could you contact me. I have a load of photos and happy for anyone to meet him. He has full vaccinations and is chipped with a passport. Please could anyone notify me if you know of someone too. thank you
