Effective Altruism - Group finally set up

Helping the biggest number of sentient beings possible.

Sounds good?

Global Poverty could long be history, and many more of our biggest problems are not so hard to change as we imagine.

Using science and evidence-based decision making we can turn our help a lot more effective. This is what we want to talk about and spread the ideas to people.

Together with the gbs foundation from Basel and the Centre for Effective Altruism from Oxford we organise talks, have regular themed meetups and want to connect with more people.

You want to discuss career choice, professional philanthropy, effective giving and other impact questions?

You want to discuss human psychology, rationality, cognitive biases, fallacies and self-improvement techniques?

You want to discuss philosophical questions regarding things like transhumanism, artificial intelligence, consciousness, morality and ethics?

Well that's what we want to do and we'd be glad to see more people joining in.

Here we are on glocals.com: http://www.glocals.com/groups/geneva/effective-altruism-group.htm
Want to have personal contact? [email protected], we should also have your mother tongue amongst our ranks. :) Also check out the more active http://facebook.com/groups/EAGeneva.

PS: Everyone who I upset over my advertisement in groups - I'm genuinely sorry, I did not know that it immediately sends out emails. Please excuse my intrusive behavior, it was not meant to be that invasive. :(

Our first meet-up is scheduled, so if you're interested in maximizing your impact come join us at the Ethnobar on Wednesday evening! :)

Don't worry, you don't have to know more about, we'll happily introduce anyone to the core ideas and then discuss from there on.
