Free WIFI

I realize that there have been a couple of threads about where you can get free Wifi around Geneva...but they seem so sparse and far apart that I kind of don't want to risk going out in -10 degree weather on a Saturday and having to trek through multiple neighborhoods in hopes of finding a spot that's (1) still open (2) still offers unlimited internet, and (3) ideally, isn't insanely busy (I'm not sure if this is a realistic expectation).

If anyone knows a hidden gem/personal favorites/places to avoid, any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Cafe Boreal at Stand has free wifi, well...you have to buy something, but hey, it's better than McD's.

Starbucks also has wifi, but it's a hellhole.

Yeah, I went to Boreal a couple of weeks ago and liked the vibe, but the place was packed! I waited an hour before I could sit at the corner of someone's table--maybe I was just unlucky that day, but that experience was exactly why I felt I should ask the knowledgeable Glocals community about other hidden options :-)

Bar de l'Enfer has a free wifi.

It is located on rue d'Enfer (between Lacoste and the big toys shop Franz Carl Weber).

They also have an excellent chocolate cake ;-)

Hm...chocolate cake sounds tempting. And that way, even if I don't get a seat or internet, at least it won't be a complete loss :)

It seems a lot of bars offer free internet? Do these bars turn into coffee shops during the day?

I googled La Praille and it seems to be a shopping complex in Carouge--is that the one you're talking about?

Cafe Boreal is fantastic and has one of the best coffees in town, but it is insanely busy. Well if you come when everyone is at work then you might be able to get a free stopt.

Thanks everyone...looks like Boreal is it, both in terms of recommendations and proximity to my place. I guess I'll just have to try to get there early and snag a spot!
