i know a few people who have done these intensive classes, and their french has improved greatly, from nothing to conversational after 2 x 3 wk classes.

Thats my one cents worth....

I took that course a few years ago and it was veyr good. I spoke no French whatsoever at the time so in the first meeting they give all of the instructions in French in order to properly classify people at an appropriate level. I turned in a blank paper and started in a class with a wide range of different people. It was as intensive as you want it to be. They give you the resources (learning lab, native speakers, etc) to learn as much or as little as you're interested in. The focus in the beginner class was on getting by.

I'm actually thinking of taking them again. Do you happen to know the session schedule for the upcoming months?

They provide all the study material.aT THE END again there is Exam After that you wil get the certificate and proceed to next level(If passed)Teaching is done in french only. But teachers are so good that you understand what they are saying. It improves your listening skill.

I had got the certificate and I happy with my french progress.Best of luck to you all.

After I finished the 3 week summer class I asked about this to the director of this program, but they only have these type of classes during the summer. They all recommended ifage though, all the teachers I asked.  That's all I know. Good luck.

I have only heard very good references about the "Summer French Language Courses" offered by Univ of Geneva (www.unige.ch),
Univ of Lausanne (www.unil.ch), Univ of Neuchatel (www.unine.ch):

DATES for 2011.

Univ Geneva/Cours d'été :
http://www.unige.ch/lettres/elcf/coursete/index_en.html

3 times  x  3-week courses, between :
27 June - 26 Aug 2011 (all levels offered)
or:
1 x 3-week course : 18 July - 26 Aug 2011:
(university preparatory session, beginners)

Univ Neuchâtel/Summer Course: 4-29 July 2011
http://www2.unine.ch/ilcf/page6203.html

Univ Lausanne/Cours de vacances: between 27 June - 26 Aug 2011

NB:  ...courses away from Geneva have an added advantage of full immersion... away from the English-speaking environment of Geneva...
