Golf - Driving Range
We are trying to find a decent golf driving range in or around Geneva. Can anyone recommend one in the Sacconex area?

Thanks

My brother in law, a professional golfer, took us to Jivahill to try out last summer, you could probably give it a try... it is located approx 20 minutes away from Grand-Saconnex

Cologny is supposed to be an elite club. Usually you need to be invited to play there.

This one is under the Saleve. If I remember well some of the Swiss national team members also play here regularly.

This one is actually also very nice.

Went to Divonne over the weekend and driving range was closed. Anyone know of a driving range that is open in the winter?

Hi Dave,

Take a look at swissgolfevents.com - we hold events in the winter at a great new indoor center.

Best,

Tom

Le golf des Serves is just after the border at CERN. Don't know if they are open in winter though.

Hi,

You got a better drining range in Vieille Batie than in the country club.

It's in Collex, not too far from Saconnex. Website, in french: http://www.golf-vieille-batie.ch/golfvieillebatie/Accueil.html

We went to the Vaille Batie in Collex Bossy at the weekend. The driving range was open and reasonably priced too. Thanks for the advice Remy.

I am not sure I would recommend the course for a serious golfer as it still looks like a converted farm but the practise facilities were good and more improtantly they allowed juniors on.

Now the spring is here, I want to join a club so I can play regularly. Can anyone recommend a good club that has a good junior programme ?

Thanks, Dave

The Swiss clubs in the lake area are rather exclusive.

Nevertheless, I know most of them have a rent-a-share programme (a share held by a regular member who does not intend to play the given season can be rented for said season)

Try Domaine Impérial which is by far the most beautiful course in the contry (check it out on googl map), Bonmon and Bossey

In France Maison Blanche and Divonne.

Given the rates, Divonne seems to be the optimal choice.

Hi Jeffrey,

had recommendations for serves and maison blanches. Not played either so cannot speak from personal experience. Will investigate both over the next few weeks.

There are two groups for golfers, a Nyon Golf Society and a Geneva Golf Society. It would be worth joining them.

I am hoping they will begin to organise some golf days soon now the spring weather is here.

We played at Serves on Saturday. The course was OK (it is not a championship course by any means) but was good value and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Bear in mind the course has been closed through the winter and has only just opened so some of the fairways will need some sun.

I can recommend Divonne.  Have been there twice over the last few weeks.  Still winter fees so a good deal.  Lovely course.

Not as much as I can make out.  I just phoned up and booked, gave them my handicap over he phone and they didn't ask for the licence federale when I turned up.  it was all fine.

Going again on Sunday.  The start of the summer green fees unfortunately but still worth it.

Dave -this is the best I can do for contact details. The course is actually part of a hotel but the hotel website is a little hard to follow. I have actually had a round here last time I lived here - nice course and challenging as I recall.

The licence federale is, I believe, a sort of insurance and membership to French golf society.  Some places are very strict as I can make out, If this is required, you can usually get one on site.

Make sure to join the Nyon Golf Society Group, I am the admin and there will be golf organised (there would have been this weekend but for the weather).

As far as i know the other group hasn't organised stuff for a couple of years.
