Laundry?

Are there laundromats in Geneva close to the UN buildings or Grand Saconnex that people would recommend? Information regarding whether they are coin-operated/how long they take to work/how expensive they are is also greatly appreciated.

It’s very unlikely that the residents of the UN quarter have any need of a laundrmat and even if there was one, they probably wouldn’t know how to use it.

Can’t help you there, but most laundries (and some dry-cleaners) offer wash-and-dry service.  However, since it’s not d.i.y., it’s not cheap -- at least 8-10 francs min. per load.

In GE, most apartment blocks have laundry facilities in the basement.  Tenants either use these or install a machine of their own in their apartment, hence the scarcity of launderettes.

It may not be much help to Justin but perhaps to someone else …

The long-established laundry at 38 rue du 31 décembre in Eaux-Vives is now a launderette and I believe it’s open until midnight.

And it opens at 6am.
It seems a little pricey for me to wash (chf5/load), but dryers are only chf1/8min cycle and it's rare that I've needed more than two cycles to dry a load of sheets or towels. I live less than two blocks away, so I've started washing stuff at home, and taking it there to dry (my dryer broke a few months ago). It's amazing! And has significantly cut down on my bill with SIG.
