My son dropped his iPod Touch and the screen is cracked.
I am looking for a repair centre/company or a person in the Lausanne/Geneva area (eventually else where in Switzerland), that would replace the iPod screen for a competitive price.
Would appreciate any ideas, advice or references.

Christine, nothing in Switzerland is competatively priced. With an iTouch you may find its cheaper just to buy him a new one for his birthday/easter/xmas.
The cheapest price I found for an iphone screen replacement was around chf 300 to 400 and would take a month...itouch may be cheaper slightly, but im guessing not much, since i think the process and parts are much the same.
As an alternative I ordered the correct parts (tools included) from igoodies.ch and used a youtube walkthrough video to change the screens on two of my previous phones myself. The cost came to approx 80chf. Was about 4 days delivery time.
Its fiddly, but not that hard, but does leave the phone susceptable to moisture, since the seal is almost impossible to get right. (im doubting the pro's get it right either).
If the process is too geeky for you there may be some IT people on Glocals who could help once you have the parts (ie Zonker), however its very important you order the correct parts before hand... there are so many versions now its easy to get the wrong screen.

Is there better deals in nearby France? Ideally I would like to spend under CHF 100.00 and so far I have no geeky “handyfriends” or” handyacquaintances” ready to face the demanding need or risky disappointment of a 12-year-old. :$

The Apple shop will fix it in about 5 minutes at a cost of 300 CHF.
Or thereabouts, can't remember the precise amount. I'm on screen 4....
Better to post this in the Lausanne forums, that way the locals will at least see it!

@ Nicolas M - this seems a good solution indeed - the maximum initial charge is CHF 150. La bonne combine only deals with 4th generation (not 3rd)
Should the cost of the reparation be above CHF 150, one can obtain a free assessment before they proceed. I will keep you posted.

Don't know about a shop in Lausanne but there is one here in Geneva who does the job for 150.- KING of GSM 58 Rue de Berne 1201 Geneva.
If you call before hand and ask if the older brother is there , he usually is on Thursdays, he will fix your screen within an hour. (otherwise it takes 1 week so do call before hand)
