Non EU Driving License

Hi all,

I am moving to Geneva in July and new to Glocals. I am trying to find out the process of obtaining a Swiss driving license. I am not sure if any of my current licenses can be used to exhange to a Swiss license. My have an international license, Middle East - valid for entire GCC countries, Malaysian and African driving licenses. Can someone please advice the process?

Dear Violet,

I'm not sure but I think you need to take a test.

Check out this website - http://www.ge.ch/san/ - or pass by their offices down at bout du monde (there is a busstop there, again see the webiste) - do this timely, it might save you a lot of hassle.

Here you some more info:

http://www.ge.ch/san/permis-de-conduire-et-permis-d-eleve/welcome.asp?rubrique=echange-d-un-permis-de-conduire-etranger&titre=Echange_d__un_permis_de_conduire_etranger

(use google translate if your french is not too good)

You can't do it from abroad - you need an eye test done here in GE..

Good luck and welcome to our lovely little city.
