Do you mean around Geneva or across Europe?

Across Europe: Paris, Rome, Venice, Florence, Barcelona, Amsterdam, ...

Around Geneva: Lyon, Torino, Paris, Annecy, ...

I can recommend this book:

http://shop.lonelyplanet.com/europe/europe-on-a-shoestring-travel-guide-7/

It will help you decide where to go & what to see and also will help you to find accommodation, information about how to get around if this is your first time in Europe.

Good luck and enjoy!

Indeed you're too late for the tulips. There are many places you can visit in Europe that are worth it. I agree with Reka that you may want to start by reading a guidebook and just using Google to find recommendations.

My personal favorites:

Italy: Rome and Venice

Spain: Barcelona

France: Mont Saint-Michel, Paris

Belgium: Brugge

Netherlands: Amsterdam

Germany: Berlin, Neuschwannstein castle (near Munich)

Czech Republic: Prague

Regarding Italy & Spain, I agree with Edward about the fact that it's worth visiting Barcelona, Rome and Venice (and my personal favourite Florence) but given that you are planning to travel now, I strongly advise against it because August is the hottest and most crowded period, you wouldn't be able to enjoy them much.
