Poker in bars?

Hey everyone!

Would anyone happen to know if playing poker in a bar in Switzerland is illegal?  A few friends and I would like to do that, (really small betting, 5CHF buy-in).  Just go to a bar, get a few beers and start our own game...

any thoughts?

Thanks a bunch!

I am not sure but I think that in Switzerland only an official tournament allows you to play poker in a bar...Here are 2 links that might be of interest to you:

Hope it helps!

Legally, in Switzerland it is not allowed to play games involving money/gambling in a bar or anywhere without an appropriate authorization from the state. But in practice you can play poker without displaying the fact that your chips actually have a money equivalent, as if you where playing for fun. You don`t need to worry about the legal part if it just a group of friends, I`ve never heard of anyone getting in trouble for that.
