Public VS private school Is private school really worth it?

Hi all,

I was just going through some forums on schools. My daughter is 2 so not yet ready for school but Im apartment hunting so are considering location that is around schools where there are people that I know. In the process, I noticed that many private schools have a long waiting list. and Im really curious as to why. the people I know with children in public schools are comfortable with them. but my questions are:

1. For a child who will live here the rest of her life will public school be better?

2. why are there so many people prefering the private school system?

3. I hear that they have changed the system is it better now (public)

4. does having a private education affect entrance to public university or does she have to go private all the way?

1. Public school can be very good, but you need a little bit of luck to get the right mix (teachers and other kids). And don't forget: not all private schools are good either.

2. Many expats send their kids to private schools for easier transition when they move on. Don't forget, for some of them part or most of the private school bill is paid by their employer. That helps ;)

3. Well, # still applies ;)

4. It can, especially when the university is in Switzerland.
