Upholstery
Could anyone recommend a place where I could buy some upholstery materials, such as springs, webbing, tacks, hessian etc (for renovating a chair)? I'd go and ask in some place that does upholstery - if I knew where to find those! Would anyone happen to know any nice place (and preferably not too expensive...)?

Re: Upholstery
Post 1

Hi there,

I found a place in German Switzerland who has everything.  The name is Bolliger (http://www.autoleder.ch/german/produkte/schaumstoff.html) but you will have to call and convince them to send you supplies even though you are a private customer, because they don't like to upset their commercial clients.  German speaking mostly, but Cornelia (Cony) speaks decent English.  Very nice people.

(They will even rent you a pro grade electric stapler for about 40 chf per month)

I am afraid that upholstery supplies are much more expensive here in Switzerland because everything is imported.  However, doing it yourself is much less expensive than having a decorator do it.

Good luck!  Let me know if you want to compare DIY upholstery notes....
