Where to do pregnancy yoga, swimming or gym?

I am 23 weeks pregnant and I would like to do some pregnancy yoga, swimming or gym. Does anybody know a place where I can do this in or around Geneva? I prefer a place where they speak English because my French is not so good yet.

Also if there are other pregnant woman who wants to join me, let me know!!

Kind regards, Sophie

Hi Sophie &
thank you Nir for recommending INNERCITYOGA.

we do run prenatal yoga sessions twice a week in english and french; we also did produce a Prenatal-yoga DVD with INNERCITYOGA founder Ioana in english and french which has been accompanying many moms-to-be (as well as their husbands) through a healthy pregnancy.

Please feel free to contact us at [email protected]

Good luck for this big adventure, Patric

A great place : 100% YOGA Geneva downtown (near Stand), small studio and excellent facilities. I am doing my second prep with Sylvain and it's really pleasant - good tips for daily life and schedule is very flexible.  you need to book online. www.100pour100yoga.com

I am sorry to say it, but this place turned me off yoga completely (after 15 years of practice). Maybe it will suit you, but just don't get your hopes up too high.

Hi Sophie,

I teach authentic yoga, meditation, breathing practices and mantras, learnt during a 21 week intensive course in an ashram in India, under the guidance of a realised master. I can teach practices specifically geared towards pregnancy. You should be very careful when choosing a yoga teacher, because there are some yoga practices which can be harmful for the baby at this time.

It is also very important that when you learn yoga, you learn it from a teacher, rather than from a video, so that the teacher can see what you are doing, and give you detailed correction, where necessary. I would also advise you against joining a drop-in class where some people know the practices already, and newcomers are expected to just watch and do an approximation of what they see. Yogic practices can be very powerful if they are done correctly, but the converse is also true.

Please check the credentials of anyone who claims to be a yoga teacher, to ensure that they have undergone sufficient training, and have a proper understanding of what they are doing. When you meet a teacher, think about whether you would feel comfortable with this person touching you. Because by being in their care, they will impact not just the external body, but how you feel and how your system works from the inside. Two lives can be greatly impacted by what you do now.

I have references on glocals, under the guides section. Please go to:

http://www.glocals.com/guides/biz/Isha-Hata-Yoga/

I also have a facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/IshaHataYogaGeneva

Here you can find information about the teacher training programme I did, and read more about what authentic yoga is about:

http://www.ishayoga.org/hata/teachertraining/what-is-yoga/

Yoga's a lot more than twisting and stretching!

All the best for the pregnancy.

Hi Sophie,

Any qualified teacher should have a basic understanding of how to look after pregnant women in a class. But you might feel more comfortable working in a smaller group, or a class that's especially for pregnant women.

Alesha is lovely, and is very into her pregnancy yoga. Ioana is also great and specialises in paranatal. You might also want to look at the link below to a teacher who is also a midwife.

Aquagym at the Piscine de Cheserex, 5 min from Nyon on Wednesdays 11.00 to 12.00. I just registered and I am ... alone in the class. Nice but would be nicer in a group! Check this out: http://www.aqualudeau.ch/#activ

Hope to see you there!

Hi All,

I am currently in my first trimester and looking or pregnancy yoga in the Orbe/Lausanne area, can anyone recommend some good classes or indeed swimming also?  Be great to also meet expectant mothers also in their 1st trimester!  I have only been in Switzerland 2 months so all a bit daunting!

Thanks you ;-)
