fancy restaurant please

HI all,

I am looking for a nice restaurant with good food and a slightly upmaket atmosphere. I have a bit of money to spend at a nice place, but nothing extortionate.

the main thing i need is to be able to wear a posh frock and killer heels without looking over dressed.

all advice welcome and appreciated!

thanks,

Nikki

Hi, thanks for that., Although that sounds great to me, my boyfriend is not a fan of japanese food. I probably should have specified.

does anyone know of something more traditional? perhaps french?

thanks. xx

45 Route du Grand-Lancy 1212 Grand-Lancy

Phone number is - 022 743 12 00

Domaine de Chateauvieux

Ch. de Chateauvieux 16, Geneva 1242, Switzerland

Fantastic food and service! Expensive like other 2 and 3 michelin star restaurants. The restaurant is not open on Sundays, please check before going. For a special treat, you can book a seat in the kitchen.

Hi Nikki

I would recommend hotel d'angleterre, in a window seat overlooking the lake.  Great food and great service as for price, the menu is available on line so you can find out if it is within your budget range.  I went for a glass of wine which was a little pricey as I went for what I liked.  But if you choose within your budget it should be no problem.

Enjoy

Right Nikki! grab a pen and paper! your boyfriend's gonna thank me for this one! it wont take long to read...

Try "Emilios" the most fabulous Greek Restaurant in Geneva (there's only 1 anyway)

To start: go 4 a tzatziki (yoghurt, herbs and garlic) u must have 4 of those cos they come in small plates and each tiny one costs 11 francs so that makes a total of 44 francs and its not even a start

then u can move on to aubergine caviar : 12 francs

then u can move on to tirokafteri 12 francs

move on 2 dolmadakia another 12 painful francs

try a bit of Labneh only 9 painful francs

then keftedakia 12 francs

then u can have a kolokithokeftedes 12 francs

these are all tiny starters..

Now u r ready for the main one: Try 2 Gyros (a big ish plate ) 4 about 24 francs each

and a fany Chateau neuf du pape 2004 for about 110 francs

For dessert i recommend a Baklava, halva or a fancy cheese cake about 12 francs each...

u come up with a grand total of only 283 francs (and it doesnt include the price for the pita)

Bon appetit!

Chris, Chris:  Now, you are really lookin for trouble with comments like that :-)..but 10 points for sense of humour all the same.

Nikki...if the "Jour J" is not already gone by...try Café Camille.  It's a nice romantic setting....and the food is very good too.

La Favola should be exactly what you need for a romantic dinner.

Or else La Cittadella. Slightly less intimate La Finestra.

The three are in the old town (pavè might prove challenging in killer heels, though).

Hi Nikki

I would suggest Le Lacustre on the lake in the centre of town. For a real taste of what it's like please watch the video in the link below. We went and had dinner in there one evening. The food was lovely and the atmosphere very upmarket.
