where to buy a used laptop
Hi!
I need a cheap, reliable laptop with wireless capability. Is there a shop in town that sells reconditioned stuff? I cannot pay a lot and it needs to be a decent, hardwearing computer.

It doesn't need to be fast, it doesn't need to have the latest operating system, but I do need to be able to connect to wireless networks. Oh, and it has to be a PC (which makes my little Mac heart choke...)

Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I think Ricardo.ch or Ebay are the best choices. Try there and good luck!

1. Go to Fust and ask them for a last year's model. They sell them at a great price, and it sounds like it's what you need.

2. Post a 'PC needed' add on GoL's 'Market' feature.

Good luck...

Thank you!
I will check it out. I now have a laptop from work that has wireless, but I don't think I am permitted to load the software I need. (My job is really funny like that) :(
Thank you!

in Geneva you can go to Itopie (www.itopie.ch) that sells reliable and sustainable second-hand laptop. Usually they have good brand like "ThinkPad".

From my experience I'd say cash converters, there is two of them in Geneva with lots of options.

You will have to go in person which actually is better if your ask me..

You haven't said what is your budget Kate? Laptop prices have gone down a lot and you can find a new one for almost any budget with service and warranty. I would not go the second hand route unless I'm buying from someone I know and trust.

It would help to know what you will be using your computer for. Does it need to run Windows? Going the Linux or Android path would save you quite a few bucks on the OS.

I think small netbooks are going for about 300 chf now a days, even basic lap tops.  not sure your get a better deal second hand to buying a new one.  plus a new one gives you the protection of warranty.

The only advantage on a second hand one is maybe you can save a few quid on software if its pre loaded
