I would be:)
Since moving to Lausanne there has been a sad lack of boardgames in my life, so it would be super cool to have people to play with :D

Ania pm me so we can keep in touch as this may take awhile to evolve
hey there, strangers.
i'd be interested in playing.
i don't know why this would necessarily take a while to evolve. you're two, i make three ... that's a pretty decent-sized board-game-playing group.
i've got a travel scrabble; who's bringing the booze?
no, seriously ... don't overthink it. your turn.

a good rule is to make your first date low-commitment / no comittment, with a ready out in case the guy's crazy. have a seemingly-firm time constraint that demands you be pulled away, even if it's totally artificial. you might want to build in the option to abandon your exit strategy, depending on how the date's going. for like a crazy blind date or something like that, you'd want to have maybe a 30 or maybe even as short as 15 minute out.
a board game get together is maybe slightly less high stakes than human mating rituals, so i'd say 45 minutes to an hour with a stranger; I could do. if there are two strangers, that feels safer, with less potential for weirdness, so a solid hour to play a game we all know ... scrabble. we're all native english speakers, no? let's go. my schedule's relatively open.
regarding place, i'm having trouble thinking of anywhere in this city that would have a problem with this ... mcdonald's? café grancy? mad club? great escape has a built-in outdoor option.

Heey guys!
I'm in for the board games if y'all have me! I shall try to keep whatever weirdness I may contain to a minmum for our 45min rendezvous...when is this momentous occassion taking place?

Looks like 4 peeps interested
Lets brainstorm days times and venues - always a turning point in this
For the record I am thinking boardgames in terms of chess draughts backgammon Scrabble and card games - I am also open to more European style boardgames but they seem to take forever to learn and play
I also envisage it as a thing where people can learn new games --- cards is brilliant for this
PS I will set up a Lausanne/Morges Game sGroup on tis site --- need some time as v busy at the mo

Hey all!
sounds good although I amy some instruction on the whole backgammon situation but we'll figure it all out!
in terms of time I'm doing different bits of work all over the place with waay more free time than work hours at least until July so propose different times 7pm + is good for me in evenings and free all weekends really.
In terms of location I live very near Lausanne Flon so anywhere really around Lausanne is great for me...
Looking forward to hearing more details about our first meet up so thanks Parker K! :-)

I have a chess group for Lausanne. But it's for experienced players...
Im keen for school night evenings (from 7ish) but can make very few weekends. Live and work in center of Lausanne so on a purely selfish level anywhere round there is perfect!

Nice.
I have a love for the game. It's been a while since I have played. So I am a little rusty. So I would rather not play with the clock initially. But I am not a slow player.

My previous comment was directed at playing chess with Pat H's group.
I love board and card games. Tried to get an evening going about 3 years ago but no interest. So let me know if this gets off the ground.
I have a backgammon set; Risk, Boggle, Rummikin, Skipbo, Take it Easy (German origin); Card games : Cribbage, Estimation Whist, Hearts; And the VERY noisy game of PIT.
Anywhere in Lausanne works for me as I will drive in.

More than welcome to join my group.

I would love to join a game group.
I have Yahtzee - but I my favourite is a noisy game of PIT @Marcia.
Weekday evenings in Lausanne would suit me.

This sounds fun, count me in! I have a few British board games, but nothing until my furniture arrives here, which won't be for a few weeks.
I'll look out for the group and hopefully see you soon!

If any one else is as geeky as me and owns a DSi this collection of games is cool...and the great thing is that you only need 1 cartridge and play as a group through wifi

I would join the group but include board games. Card games are boring for me so i will join board games.

With Parker's ok, i have submitted a new group 'Lausanne Board Games' . Will let you know when it receives Admin's approval.
In the meantime, who is interested in meeting up this Friday (21st)?
According to the weather forecast, it should be dry. We can meet in a Lausanne park or the lakeside in Ouchy - picnic style. (Thanks Parker for the suggestion). It will be the longest day of the year so we can meet from 7 - 10 leaving the rest of the evening for those with party plans after.
For the first meetup, we can each bring a game and we can decide on the night. And of course something to eat and drink.

Thanks Karine. So not a good weekend to meet.
Group : I will check the weather next week and propose a day where we can meet outside to take advantage of the summer evenings.

Hi Pat,
I would be interested in joining your chess group. I play online quite regularly - blitz and standard games on gameknot.com.
When and where do you guys meet?
Regards,
Jamie
