Drinks in Lausanne - help required!

Hi there Lausanne People!

I have a friend who will be working in Lausanne for September and being the dutiful friend I am, I will visit and bring her out to the Lausanne 'hotspots'.  My question is: are there any? Never been out in Lausanne before!  Somewhere chilled, good wine or good cocktails, tapas bars?  Also, any good (but again chilled - not fancy pantsy) restaurants?  Any advice is welcome!! Thanks!! Alison

the thursday drinks (every 2 weeks) at the hotel de la paix. great (comlimentary) tapas, reasonable prices, nice congenial "glocals" and the pub and restaurant are quite good too. give it a try, ( watch out for the event posting by Ludo) and you won't be disappointed.

http://www.restaurantnomade.ch/

This place is trendy, not outrageous, good food.

Its across from Cafe Luna, which is good for pre drinks, or just hanging out more casual..

and next is Le Punk Bar which is good for going OUT =)

Go to the Great Escape (place de la Riponne) if the weather is good. There are good beers & the Hambugers are famous. You can go to the Saint Pierre bar if you want good Food & delicious cocktails ;)

Cafe de Grancy, Boulevard de Grancy, just below the railway station.

It's got a nice atmosphere and not expensive.

Will be there today in fact 10.30, Sunday 18th Sept.

Regards   Michael

we love 'the great escape' http://www.the-great.ch/ .  Nice mix of expats and swiss.  Would imagine it has the cheapest beer in Lausanne too (esp at happy 1/2 hour, at 6.30pm).

On another note, we've a facebook group heading out for drinks every few weeks - Lausanne startup Beers http://www.facebook.com/groups/218203868230145/

cheers,
Andy.

Etoile Blanche http://www.etoileblanche.ch/

Le Bleu Lézard http://www.bleu-lezard.ch/ (concerts & dancing in their cellar)

Le Java http://www.lejava.ch/

Are among other great places to hang out in Lausanne

Down to the lake at Ouchy, try the terrace of:

Le Château d'Ouchy http://www.chateaudouchy.ch/

Le restaurant du Musée Olympique http://www.olympic.org/fr/musee-restaurant-kiosque (for their fantastic Sunday brunches, dixit Roger ;-)
