Gyms in Lausanne?

Hi,

I'm looking for a new gym, I've been 3 months in Silhouette and I didn't liked it (too many things not working and never fixed).

Yesterday I've seen Holmes Place and Let's Go. I know there's one in Malley but is not that handy, plus I know Equilibre in Montchoisi.

Anything else/anything recommended in the centre of Lausanne?

Merci

there is one in le Flon that is reasonable/new, and I go to one in Tivoli, but I would not recommend that one for girls. It's really old school and 99% of the members are guys.

ok thanks, I anyway joined Equilibre which is not that crowded, is open fro 5 am to midnight and the people who work there are very very professional. Plus they do also 3 months contract - perfect for me as I'll leave the country - and they were also the cheapest I found :)

If you want to go to a place to exercise I cannot recommend “Exersuisse” enough it is located right at the end of the Lausanne train station. They have a very different mentality than a “normal” fitness place. You will find no one fooling around or showing of because the training is so intensive and regimented. The staff can set you up on a personalized training routine that emphasises your exercising goals for sport, every day activities or to recover from an injury.

The training area also emphasise concentration and their is no music or distractions, this environment forces you to fully focus on the exercises. The staff is constantly re-checking your planned exercise routines to help you integrate into a healthy training mentality. The purpose of their training routine is for you to gain or maintain a high level of physical fitness by training with medically approved machines. They have some highly specialized strength training machines that you cannot find elsewhere. They permit you to incrementally gain an unusual amount of strength and the advantage is that they are also very safe to use, because they do not involve you carrying “free weights”. For example they have a back machine that can stop you from developing back pain or even relief you from current back problems. They also of course include lower and upper body machines that you can train in either compound or isolated movements. On the other hand they have no cardio machines because the training regime increases you heart rate enough, so that you can accomplish a high intensity session without the need of doing an extra cardio session.

I first started Exersuisse two years ago because I have muscular problems in my back. It is because they also have a physiotherapy approve to training and with the help of a neck machine I can now seek relief every time I go and exercise there.

With the high intesity  training and strength gains, I was able to finish a 5km swimming marathon last summer ! If you have sport oriented goals or suffer from weight or back trouble I cannot highly recommend this place enough. There is no age limit the training routines are accommodated for all ages. I have seen some very physicaly fit 50 – 70 years old who look very healthy and can walk very efficiently because of the training program. The staff is always very helpful and knowledgeable.

You can book a free training session and see if this type of environment suits you and if the machines and training program appeal to you. Just phone 021 616 88 51 and ask a training session with Chantal or Oscar because they both can speak English. If you speak French or German then you can book your training session with anyone. Unfortunate their website is only in french and german http://exersuisse.ch/fr/sites/lausanne/ . But If you have any questions send me a message... I have some very ambitious sport orientated goals this year and go there once or twice a week. Its always good to meet new people and speak english so see you there.

I paid 390 CHF for 3 months, so of course I'd have paid much less if I would have taken a longer membership, but, as said, I'll leave Switz in August. There are no joining fee.

Holmes Place was 155 CHF per month - 1 year membership with possibility of recession of the contracts but online I've seen too many bad reviews - basically they won't let you cancel it. Plus 155 oj joning fee, so for 3 months I would have paid 775.

Let's go was expensieve too + 200 CHF of cancellation fees.

Have a nice day, I'm going to the gym now ;)
