Help with learning French!

Hello!

I am 21 years old and I have been living in Switzerland for around 20 months and my French is still awful!

I am looking for some native French speakers people who might like to go for a coffee or a drink and help me practice my French!

Thanks

Yay! I really need a language partner. The only person that speaks to me in French is the cleaning lady

Cette semaine, je ne suis pas en Suisse. La prochaine semaine certainement. On parle bientot!

hello girls

how about meeting up during the week after work in Starbucks to practise our French language skills then? it would be fantastic if all of us could meet up on Wed/Thursday evening. Please, feel free to suggest more preferable days if middle of the week does not work for you.

Looking forward to our french chat.

Sounds great :-)

This week, I would prefer Thursday or Tuesday (but if this is supposed to be a regular thing, unfortunately I won't have time on Thursdays). Wednesday could also work, but only if necessary.

18:30? Later? (A bit) earlier?

Hi guys

Let's meet up on Thursday at 18.30 for this week :) (Don't hesitate to join us a bit later if it's more convenient for you.)

We will see how it goes and then the next time we can stick to another days which might work even better.

Is everyone okey with Starbucks St. Francois?

Happy Sunday!

Hello everyone,

I would love to join your group, but my french is really poor... I came here the beggining of Oct, and I didn't take any classes. Just learn by myself so.. you can imagine. But I'm really motivated to improve my skills. Might I join? Is that fine for you to help someone who is on level of 2 years old child? :)

Great initiative, I'm also interested in a language exchange. My native language is Dutch and I speak English quite well. I cannot make it tonight but I'll follow this thread to see when the next meeting will be. I'm a beginner (A2), so if you're interested in a tandempartner or in studying French together, let me know!

basic french error: La = feminin, therfore must be folloewd by "nouvelle" as "activité" is also feminin. also, because it follows the verb "est" the past participle, constituée/organisée, must agree in gender and number

should read: bonjour à tous, la nouvelle activité est constituée/organisée.

perhaps start your language lessons with basic french grammar :-)

bonne chance Laughing

ps: i never capitalize in my email/message texts, total waste of time!!

So, here's our new group: http://www.glocals.com/groups/la-langue-lausanne-group.htm :-)

@ all: I just noticed that James created the event for 18:00, whereas I wrote 18:30 in the group. It's probably better not to give differing information, so the time should be changed either in the "activity" or in the "group", depending on when we should meet.

What time do you prefer? 18:00 or 18:30?

18.30 works perfectly for me, however if some of us are free earlier, 6pm is fine as well - the greater chance of having a bigger table, as the bookings are not possible in advance according to the staff.

Hi  There,

I am new glocal..just moved in Pully and still trying to understand my way around.

I am very interested in your meetings, however I feel my level of French is still to low and I would end up speaking in english/Italian/Spanish!  So before meeting you guys, I would prefer to get to a more reasonable level!

Anyone can suggest any good teacher in the area of Lausanne willing to give few lessons on French grammar/pronunciation or any good courses reasonably priced!?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Hello Caterina

Feel free to come anyway - we really are the group of people from A1-B1 levels. We are trying to understand and more important - we are trying to speak in French. If there is some kind of insecurity, saying the words in English is fine with everyone! It is the objective of our group - to ease any pressure you might have and make you feel more confident to speak as well as to learn.

You might find helpful the website www.babbel.com which is a great start to get yourself into the grammar and vocabulary. Give it a try! :)

Have a good day
