Reliable weather site for Vaud on Internet?

I was planning a walk today but cancelled because, for the last few days, the official meteo site for the Suisse Romande had been forecasting rain for today,up until yesterday.Of course,I was really ****off when the day turned out to be clear ,sunny and......warm! The app I used to use has always been very reliable until very recently.Does anyone else have a site/ app they could recommend for more reliable info? I'd be grateful for any advice.

Just downloaded 'WeatherRadar' on my phone.  No idea of how good it is, time will tell.  :)

I usually look at http://www.meteocentrale.ch/ + http://www.meteoswiss.admin.ch/ + https://www.srf.ch/meteo/ ... then try to make a weighted average :))

When a depression is coming straight towards us, the forecast is quite easy since it will hit us, plus or minus a few hours.

The problem comes when only the edge of a weather system looks to hit us. If we get the edge we may get a few showers but if the depression moves only a short way, we can get heavy rain to one side or sunshine to the other.

So I track the weather maps during the week before.

Weather systems do not respect country borders and can stretch across continents. I usually track the BBC site weather maps during the week before since they actually experience the weather in the UK before we usually get it in Switzerland.

The maps are very clear and easy to understand but the temperatures in Winter are usually too low for our area - the computer model does not seem to take into account of the influence of the Lake Leman.

Then Meteo Suisse is usually quite accurate on the day before so I check it then and on the day itself to confirm what to expect.

So by combining the two systems, you will know if a forecast is going to be fairly accurate or if it will have a lot of uncertainty.

Good luck!

Serge
