What to do on Sundays?

Hi Glocals

I have been in Lausanne for some while now and there one thing that is bothering me.

There is nothing to do on Sundays.. The city becomes a ghost town

Do you have any ideas, what to do on Sundays?

Hi Einar,

Welcome to Lausanne! It is true that in the middle of winter Lausanne can seem a bit deserted, but you will be amazed how lively Ouchy will become on Sunday afternoons as the weather gets better.

In the meantime, there are still loads of things to entertain yourself with such as:

- Brunch at Café de Grancy behind the train station http://www.cafedegrancy.ch/

- afternoon matinee at the Galleries

- a visit to the musée d'elysee http://www.elysee.ch/  (photography museum) and then a walk down to Ouchy for a coffee at the hotel d'Angleterre  http://www.angleterre-residence.ch/uk/index.php#accademia.php

- or go for a drive in the vineyards and have lunch at the Café/Restaurant de Riex on the route de Corniche where you will discover the true Saucisson Vaudois along with the best local wines.

- a trip up to Les Paccots for some snow shoeing followed by a fondue for lunch and a bob sled down if you want http://www.les-paccots.ch/en/navpage-WinterFR-HikeWinterFR-176665.html

- A bike ride from Lausanne to the Château de Chillon and then take the boat back to Ouchy http://www.chillon.ch/en/ (or go by train / car if the weather is not so good)

- a visit to any of the local bains : Yverdon les Bains http://www.yverdonlesbainsregion.ch/fr/ , Les Bains de Lavey http://www.lavey-les-bains.ch/, or Les Bains de la Gruyère http://www.bainsdelagruyere.ch/fr/

 - The Olympic Museum and then a walk along the lake in the direction of Lutry where as soon as the weather gets warm you can have a lovely afternoon on La Terrasse  http://www.terrasselutry.ch/ (but keep that address a secret - it is already too crowded!)

- or you can get a local to teach you how to play Jass and hours and hours and hours of fun can be had no matter what the weather is like!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jass

Have fun!

What a beautifully, nice reply.  It was difficult for mr me, too, coming from a 24-7 environment life, but it can work beautifully!
