New Bond
A poor start. Very unnatural Bond. Poor acting by Daniel Craig. Mumbles half his lines. You can tell they're trying to "reinvent" Bond. Just doesn't cut the mustard. You can't tell whether Bond is HMSS agent or a sophisticated street thug. This film needed some real acting. I watched Connery in Goldfinger just the other day. You can literally follow the film's plot by the expressions on his face. After placing pastic explosives inside the heroin plant he casually walks into a bar and very casually raises his eyebrows as the whole room is shaken by the explosion. Then he sort of flutters his eyelids, lowers his look as if to say "I'm still here...what's next". Where did he learn to do this? The difference between Connery and Craig is that Connery actually believed in what and who he was. Craig doesn't. And it shows. Acting tough doesn't make you Bond. And by the way...of all the Bonds Connery was the only one to have actually served in his country's armed forces (Royal Navy). No I'm afraid some critics are right when they say that Matt Damon has become the real James Bond of our times in his Bourne triology (third one to be released in 2008 or shortly thereafter).

...and you'll see that most (or all?) of us loved the new version of Bond :) Who has ever said that you have to "believe" what and who Bond was. Personally I've never met a more fictional character ;) and I love him that way. To me Daniel Craig IS the modern Bond.

I NEVER liked any of the Bond films before because I thought they were completely unrealistic and frankly always thought James Bond was a bit slimey. I don't go to the movies to see reality, but I want a well thought out, well acted , action-packed film. Casino Royale followed the book very well and in fact showed the rough, just-starting-out style Bond.

Besides maybe Connery I never thought any of the Bonds were good looking. I loved this Bond though. I thought Daniel Craig did a great job. Those blue eyes and that body were gorgeous. Not only that but Eva Green was amazing as his Bond girl. Two thumbs up from me for Casino Royale.
