Saw this film recently, Must admit was very impressed, and found it to be a very good film.
Its set in 1920 and is about a group of Irish who resist the english occupation.

Where did you see it, Simon? I've read great things about it.

Actually got the title wrong, it should be the wind that shakes the barley.
Go to Balexert, its there and I watched it in English.

I've been hearing about Wind that Shakes the Barley since Cannes. I read a blog about Irish in Kansas City called, imaginatively enough, irishkc.com and the fellow has been writing about this film for months. I'm sure it will be out on dvd soon (I'm not much for going to see movies in theaters). I'm looking forward to seeing it then.
Ken Loach also directed a film back in 1990 called Hidden Agenda. If Irish sectarianism interests you, it's a good one to check out. For a slightly more humourous take, (though still quite dark) Divorcing Jack would be a good one as well. The potato scene almost makes up for the out the window scene.
