Becoming Génevois soon

Hi everybody!

My name is Juan, I'm a Spanish guy living in Beirut (Lebanon) for the moment and I will move ina few weeks to Geneva (got a new job there).

I'm an easygoing, openminded, healthy guy and I am looking forward to move there and meet new people.

I am currently trying to organize basic things such as to find an appartment, to know bout about areas in the city and thing to do once I'll be there.

Any tip, recommendation, advice or practical infromation will be very welcome...

Cheers!

Juan

Hey Nazli!

Thanks so much for the information (and the solidarity) It's becoming quite complicated to find a "pied a terre"...

I founded some interesting offers also in

www.anibis.ch
http://www.recherche-colocation.com/geneve.html
http://www.easywg.ch/romandie/colocation-geneve-genf

I'd be very happy if I just find a place to stay when I arrive in one month. I guess once there it will be easier to look for a permanent place...

cheers from Spain

Hi Nazli C & Juan,

The Geneva welcome centre can be useful, pop in for a visit when you arrive in Geneva and also register with them for mailshots on accommodation etc.

Wish you both luck and welcome to Geneva.(when you get here :-))

Hola Juan,

The process is really difficult sometimes (not for everyone but the majority) so it's better to be checking all the websites of the different regies everyday. Here you can find a list:

http://www.npph.net/immo.html

I would also recommend you signing up with CAGI http://www.cagi.ch/fr/logement.php

I was receiving many ads from them everyday. You just have to choose the specific characterictics you want in the apartment you're looking for. But, still I recommed to check the regie websites everyday as sometimes, through CAGI, I was getting the ads very late.

CAGI also provides a guide of all the necessary steps you need to take in order to start looking for an apt and the things to do once you finally get an offer. It's in french, hope you can read it, although it is quite easy to understand the written form for us spanish speaking people.

Good luck.

Nazli: It's better to deal directly with Regies. See my post above.

Good luck!
