Brazilians spending the first week of July in Geneva :-)

Hi  everybody,

My name is Amanda.

Me and my husband are both Brazilians living in the United States for 3 and a hald years now. We came to the US to get our Master's degree in Music and ended up staying because we both got  a job :)

We are very social, love been around people and meeting new friends.

I am arriving in Geneva  on July 1st. I was granted a scholarship to participate in a summer course at the Institut Jaque-Dalcroze!

This is a dream coming true for me!!!

I joined this group because I want to meet people in Geneva and also I am trying to find more affordable HOUSING. Since everything seems quite (not to say very) expensive....

So, I would appreciate any help. If you can reccomend us a place to stay, or if you know of someone who would like to rent a room for a week....That would be great!

Meanwhile, I'll be visiting this forum and connecting to more people!

Have a wonderful day, everybody!

Oi Amanda,

Im brazilian too, but answering in english to comply with forum rules.

As far as housing, prices here are insane expensive. If you have an european passport, you can get a flat in neighboring France, which has much better deals.
If not, all you can do is either avoid the city centre, but its still gonna be pricey.

Close cities in Switzerland like Nyon are not so much cheaper, but the daily comute by public transport to the city could burn the savings. :(

Boa sorte!!

Hi Claudia,

That would be wonderful!!!
We are arriving on July the 1st (next Sunday!) and staying until the 6th. So, really just for the next week - Sunday through Friday.

I'll try airbnb. I've never heard of that! Thanks for the tip :-)

My summer course is at the Institut Jaque-Dalcroze (Rue de la Terrassière 44
1207 ) and I have been looking everything around it.

I have spent a lot of time researching hotels, albergues, bed and breakfast, temporary rents, etc... But what I really wanted was to find a room to stay and "help out" ($) someone else, rather than spending the money on a big corporation/business (hotels, etc)

Thank you so much and let's keep in touch this week!!

you can try this link.  Its for the student accomadation thats not used in summer.  Dont be put off by the prices, this is Geneva, its not the real world so unfortunatly the prices for any kind of accomadation here is sky high.
