Chinese, Japanese or English, a newbie just want to say 您好,こんにちは and Hello
I just moved to Geneva from Canada recently. Even I can speak 3 languages but no French is hard to survival, especially living in Ferney. Not necessary to exchange our languages, any interesting conversations will also be welcome.

Hey Bob!
Welcome to glocals and to Geneva / Ferney.
What brings you over here from Canada?
Speaking of Canada, I just finished watching 3 seasons of 'Trailer Park Boys' - excellent stuff.

Hi Bob,

Welcome.

I'm another one who don't speak French too..been here less than 2months.

Ferney is a nice place - I stayed there from Sep/Oct'09 and the people there are very friendly too.

Have now ended up in Divonne-les-Bains, another nice place but still French-speaking :)

I'd better go take up some French lessons! :)

Yes, people in Geneva and Ferney are very nice and friendly. Since human has our most common language, body language, we still can understand each other most of time. Well, it’s time for learning my 4th language, isn’t a good chance?

Hi Bob

I am also one of those who don't speak any French but I don't intend to make this last forever! It is a good opportunity to take up French and you have plenty of people to practise with. I am still searching for a course and place that will fit my needs but I think I may have to wait until the new year when I can enroll properly.

Geneva has lots to offer if you are looking in the correct places. There is a Chinese corner if you want to speak Mandarin...

Hope you will enjoy your time in Geneva.

Hi Brian

I speak Chinese too although I am not Chinese. Do you get to practise your Chinese much in Switzerland? Did you know there is a Chinese corner where people meet every other Wednesdays to do things together but mainly to practise their Chinese? Get in touch if you are interested.

Good to know there is a Chinese corner here, could you please let me know the place so I can join them sometime.

Please let me know if anyone wants to practise/chat in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), Japanese or English.

Dear Lisa,

I'd like to know about the "Chinese Corner" too.  I am from Hong Kong so I speak Cantonese and Putonghua.  But... no French (not enough to get around not to talk about getting job).  So I'm planning to take a course or something...

Welcome to Switzerland. I thought that you can get by with English in Geneva...

Maybe you want to come and join any of the Zurich groups for a change?

I am Swiss, I am learning Japanese but know very little yet.

Good luck and have fun!
