From Montreal to Geneva

Hello everyone,

I'll be moving to Geneva at the end of this month for about 3 months. I'll be working at the UN. Would love to maximize my time there professionally, culturally and socially. Passionate about food, languages (specially Spanish), travelling, yoga, rockclimbing and hundreds of other activities. If you have any advices on things to do, places to visit, etc. please feel free to share :) !

Thanks!

Patricia

Hi Patricia,

Also from Montreal and have been living in Geneva for quite a looooong time.

Lots of places to visit around here so you won't be bored. i highly recomment the city of Annecy, an hour south of Geneva. They call it the Venise of France and it's a true beauty !

If you need anything, just send a word.

Welcome !

Nathalie

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay in answering back. We just had a bank holiday and I took off for a very long week-end.

I'm a personal coach/HR consultant mainly working for foeign companies in Geneva.

Geneva is, in fact, quite a small provincial town. I'd easily compare it to Ottawa. But, if the curious type, you'll soon find out all the great things there are to do around. we've got the lake of course with all the water sports available (mainly sailing of course) and other nearby mountain lakes. Trecking and mountain climbing 30mn away. And check out the web site of this lowcost air company Easyjet and you'll discover a whole bunch of Eurpoean citites you can visit over the week-ends for very reasonable rates. After all, Geneva is right in the middle of Europe and everything is quite close by (not like in Canada!).

Don't expect it to be a party city like Paris or London, though. Geneva's religeous history has consequences on how late bars are open, etc. Many restaurants are also closed on Sundays. Respect of neighbors is important.

How does that sound ? Laughing
