Muriel, I'm also looking for a café like this! When I lived in Bordeaux there were a good number to choose from, but I haven't found any near my apartment yet. I wonder if they exist outside of Plainpalais? It would be nice to find one in Eaux-Vives...

In Ferney:  Restaurant 'La Truite'

very misleading name:-))

Yes!  it is a restaurant + a great coffee/tea room on the side

- > corner Grand rue (cobblestone) + rue de Versoix

next to the Ferney's fountain + Hotel de France

Try this place in Eaux Vives on Rue Maunoir:

http://www.coupdegirafe.ch/

The service can sometimes be a bit slow but the cafe has lots of comfy chairs and sofas and serves nice teas.

Coffee - Boreal Cafe (http://www.borealcoffee.ch/)

Restaurant - Expresso Club ( 25 rue de Paquis, Geneva 1201) Delicious, simple Italian food. Very cool ambiance. It's tiny and you can't reserve, but people are in and out pretty quickly so the staff will happily offer you a glass of wine while you wait.

Hey,

I love Le coup de Giraffe in Eaux Vives. It is an awesome cafe. I highly recommend the place and the desserts. There are similar places, but not quite as nice. "The Laughing tea pot" in old town has a pretty good variety of teas and English scones. "La Vouivre" in Paquis near place de la navigation has an old world charm with a great Baroque style decor. The Martel in Carouge is lovely if you sit outside on a sunny day.
