Need to practice my French!!

Hi all. I've been in Gex (15 mins from Geneva, in France) for almost 2 months now and have just been told about this site. I'm from Australia and am here as an au pair for 12 months. I am 25 which makes me old for an au pair so I'm here looking for other people similar in age to me. My main aim of being here is to learn French - I studied it in Australia and am doing classes now but my conversation skills are really bad. I've met a lot of really nice English speakers while I've been here and have found that it is really easy to have a life but I'm still missing the French only contact. I'm willing to try (almost) anything so if you feel like meeting a new friend contact me and we can get together. Kel

I know how you feel...I have lots friends and acquaintances with whom I speak English...but I need some french only contacts!

I'm also an old nanny, but who cares...it's worth it to learn the french.

If you're able to get into Geneva on a weeknight, join us at a New Member Drinks night. There are all kinds of nationalities, and always some french conversation. Who knows, you might even meet some people to talk french with on a regular basis.

I am working in Geneva in english speaking environnement (International organization)

It could really nice if i can improve my english and especially my accent.

Look at our activity :

THINGS TO DO ---> LANGUAGE EXCHANGE ----->LET'S FRENCH

We speak only french there and you can meet a lot of great people ,

I'm an old au pair too ;)

Hi! I am french, 25 years old as well and new in the region, I work in Geneva but live in Annemasse. I would be happy to meet you and we could both pratice :p French for you english for me :D I was an au pair for a year in the US so I really understand how difficult it is to meet "local" people when you arrive in a country! I am working as a marketing assistant for Colgate Palmolive Europe, I speak english fluently but my first language is French so it would be a pleasure! Let me know when you would be available.

hey guys, if you look at the date of this first posting on the thread and the following ones, it's from 2007!!!!

so all of those people ( the first 3 in the thread) are either fluent french speakers or no longer in the area.
