New beginnings - postgraduate student

Hello lovely Glocals community members!

My name is Erica and I am half Québécoise-half Mexican. I am delighted to have just accepted an offer to do a Master in Development Studies at the Graduate Institute. This means that I'll be moving to Geneva in early September for a new beginnings as a postgraduate student! Through this forum I hope to meet new people, get insiders tips about the city, culture, nightlife, community, and if there are other students here about the Institute as well!

I am fluent in Spanish, French, English and half-fluent in Haitian Creole. As you might have guessed I'm passionate about international cooperation, community development and environmental sustainability. I enjoy yoga, running, skiing and swimming, but also dancing, brinking beer or wine, chilling with friends, etc.

I have looked at the accommodation options in Geneva and I am highly interested in signing up for La Ciguë, which is a self-governed cooperative accommodation where you live in a flatshare with other people. However, to get on the waiting list for a room there you have to show up in person, so I will do that on my first day there! In the mean time, I would like to ask if any of you know of any spare room that I could rent for my first month in Geneva, the month of September? I am a great flatmate to have, I have quite a few cooking skills up my sleeve and I enjoy socialising. I know that the price of accommodation in Geneva is quite high, but at this stage I am completely open to any suggestions!

Anyways, I really hope that this platform will be useful in meeting new people and discovering new places, feel free to give me a shout!!!

Lots of love x
