New member from Sweden

Hello everyone!

Have been living in Lausanne since 7 years but wasn't aware about Glocals before yesterday. A fellow Swede told me about it. I just opened a candy store with Swedish candy among other traditional ones. A Swedish expat will for sure miss family and friends but even more the candy.

Hope to connect with many of you here on Glocals!

Tell us about Swedish candy.  What's unique about it?

Our speciality would be salty liquorice or even peppered liquorice. Either you love it or you hate it. There is no "in between" so to speak. Then we have jelly textured candies and also special flavours as apple tart candies...

Hey Caroline,

We are going to Lausanne on Saturday to the Luna Park. Is your candy store anywhere near ouchy ( I think that's right), as they sound delicious and I would like to try some.

Hello Lucy,

Ouchy is near the lake, my store is up in the centre near St-Francois. What a pity... But you will be more than welocme next time you visit Lausanne!

P.S: on Saturdays I'm open from 10.00-13.00

Thanks Caroline,

Depending on what time we get there we may come there first, if not I will definitely visit on another day.

A humble business suggestion. Make a Candy Bus with all the best candy - a little bit like Bokbussen - and come and sell us some Swedish candy in Geneva. Say an hour on Pleinpalais on Sundays? I would buy tons. Ah well - but hectograms for sure. (Best candy=turkisk peppar, gelehallon, skumbananer, plopp)

My sister is grazy about the small Swedish candy cars ("bilar"). There may be a danger of addiction...

Pär,

Thank you for the suggestion. I might do it once the store is famous! Meanwhile, I'm afraid you have to come to Lausanne to get some Turkisk peppar, Geléhallon and Plopp (though all the Plopp's are gone now...)

I know Sweden. I've been from Malmo all the way up to Kiruna and the arctic circle. I've been a few times to Malmo and the reason for heading towards Kiruna was to attempt to see the Northern lights but no luck. I did experience the arctic winter for a few days. Very short days. Nice low temperatures. :-).

Walking at 10am in Stockholm with the sun just above the horizon was also quite an interesting experience.

Sorry I have no comments about candy. The winter impressed me more...

... also Snuss would be more of a treat although many people disapprove of it.

IKEA has Ahlgrens bilar and salta fiskar and some other stuff. Tyrkisk peppar, viol or geléhallon I did not see...

Snus is disgusting if you have to kiss the snuser - otherwise I can't see why you would disapprove of if? No second hand smoking and so on (slow suicide-angle a bit farfetched if you ask me).
