New to this group... Living in Zurich
Hello All,

I'm new to Zurich and thought I'd post a newbies post to introduce myself :o)

I'm 26 and just moved here from London.

Originally from Nigeria, I have lived in London for most of my life.

I enjoy travelling amongst other things and have been to Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, NYC, DC ....

I'd like to meet cool people in Zurich both locals (to try to speak German) and non-locals.

I like socialising, sports, shopping, outdoors, watching movies, eating out, learning new cultures..... normal things :)

If you're in Zurich..... hello!! If you're not, hello too :P

Hallo!!!

.....I accidentally got a job here :D.... Long story, but quite funny. I'm really liking it so far and hope to learn more about the place and to try to speak German.

So how long have you been here and how are you finding Zurich?

I live in Geneva actually, and have been here for 10 years...came here from Israel 10 years ago to work for Procter & Gamble, and one thing led to another, and my planned 2 year stay here turned into 10...:)

If you want to speak the local language, don't do the mistake I did. I kept postponing my french lessons, cos I worked in English and spoke English with my mates, and didn't really have much need for anything more than basic french. So even now, 10 years later, my french is poor. So if you really want to learn German, force yourself into a course, and don't postpone it.

And a last question: I'm one of the guys helping run glocals, and we're looking a Zurich members who's willing to write a 'new to Zurich' blog, describing (in English) what it's like to be new to the city. Your life has to be more interesting than mine tho (mine = wake up, go to work, come home, surf the web and fight a bit with the Mrs, go to sleep. Repeat) for the blog. You game?

Hello Kay!

Welcome to Zurich! :) Seems like you have lived an interesesting life in many many ways and in many destinations so far! I've lived in a few countries myself and really have enjoyed the environmental and cultural changes! ;)Hope you are enjoying your new home in Zurich!

I am 24 years old, originally from Estonia, but for the past 2 years I've resided in Los Angeles with my dear husband, who is an American! We've gpt one of the greatest stories of how we met and how we have ended up here in Zurich! :)

I am also very new to Zurich- moved here about 1.5 months ago and the same way as you described in your blog, I am also trying and hoping to start practicing German really soon! Looking to join an intensive course soon, as I am very much a beginner! Have you already got some knowledge in German? Can you use it at at work?

I am at the moment looking for a job and even though it's difficult to find a good job when not being fluent in atleast one local language, I am always keeping the positive attidude and keep persistancy live in me!:hehe:

I am also working on 2 other projects with my husband and hope to get them running before the end of the year!

So, how do you feel now since you've been here for a little while?

I am loving it and willing to work my butt off to stay here :P

Cheers!!!

Heleri
