new to geneva (versoix)

Hi

Been in Versoix a week now with my family and now we have sttled into our apartment, I'm beginning to feel a bit home sick. Have been out and about on the train with my 2 girls(11 & 16 years) as they are not due to start attending College Du Leman until Jan. However I am craving adult conversation as I am not used to being a lady of leisure, is there anyone living near Versoix that would like to meet up for a coffee and chat one day?

Also could anyone tell me the best place to go shopping for meat ect (via public transport)? I hear most people travel to France as it is so expensive here.

Many thanks Mandy

The is a nice shopping centre in Chavannes-de-Bogis, (http://les-centres.ch/centre-commercial/chavannes/accueil), Manor there has some good quality products
If you like open-air markets, with fresh quality produce, you could try Ferney-Voltaire on Saturday mornings, or Divonne-les-Bains on Sunday mornings

Hi Mandy,

shopping for meat via public transport is going to be quite a challenge. There are only Migros and COOP in Versoix meeting this requirement, then Geneva of course but France stays the best option.

Many thanks for your reply. Had a good look around Manors food department yesterday and they have a much wider variety than Migros and Coop. Will also try out the markets.

Picked up a great book also yesterday from Payot book store - 'Know-it all passport'. It's fantastic! It has just about everything that you need to know about living in Geneve, Vaud and neighbouring France. The shopping section is great with map references so you can see without doing any research whether it is reasonably close by. Also has a section for specialist foods, so if you are craving a certain item from home you may be able to get it!
