Re: WEREWOLF GAME & BUFFET PARTY
Post 11
Hi, David.
There is the website about this game, originally in French and called "Les Loups-Garous de Thiercelleux" and invented by French person(s).
http://mediaplan.ovh.net/~objectif/loups-garous/base/index.htm
Because the website doesn't explain the game so well in English, I write more about the game in the following. But I must warn you that it is long to read.
If you read French, please visit the website instead.
1. ANIMATOR
You need a game "animator" ("master" or "guide") who knows this game well. The animator can't do a good job unless s/he has played the game several times as a player before. The role of the animator is critical to make this game really "fun". S/he really needs to be able to not make any mistakes of giving tips about the unrevealed IDs to the game players. Reading the instruction of the game cards-set alone won't help the animator to make the game really "fun".
2. WIN or LOSE - WEREWOLVES vs. VILLAGERS
The game goes on by a series of (heating) discussions by all players who are assigned different roles unknown between each other - villagers and werewolves as well as certain different villagers with a special power respectively. The game is Werewolves vs. Villagers. If villagers reveal the IDs of all the werewolves, they win. If the werewolves "kill" all villagers before being revealed their IDs, they win.
3. DISCUSSIONS (FUN TIME!)
During each session, starting by a night time (when all players close their eyes), only the werewolves open eyes to decide which villager to be eliminated from the game and indicate it to the animator. The one "killed" can't talk anymore for the current session as "dead". During the daytime (people open their eyes), the animator announces the one killed by the werewolves, and all players including the werewolves (pretending to be a villager) engage in discussion in order to detect who are the werewolves. The werewolves must manipulate the discussion to defend themselves. At the end of the daytime, the villagers decide by "voting" one player (considered as "village tribunal" or "lynching") to be eliminated as a suspected werewolf. Usually, villagers themselves "kill" each other a lot :-)) In the end of the session, the last ones standing will be either villagers or werewolves. If all werewolves are killed quickly, the villagers (humans) win quickly!
There are also several differenc kinds of villagers with a different special power.
All these must be guided by the animator carefully yet in a funny way.
4. NUMBER OF PLAYERS
10-15 would be the best to maximise the level of fun.
5. DURATION of 1 SESSION
Several sessions can be played as long as time allows. Each session lasts for 15-30 min, depending on the number of participants and how they play. In every session, people play different roles assigned by the cards randomly distributed to them by the animator.
Doubt, suspicion, pretention, etc., the game goes easily very exciting, and people feel thrilled in those discussions. Human psychology every person manifests is incredibly funny!

TIPS:
The game cards-set is available at major toy stores including Manor's toy section.
The event we organise comes with a world buffet that each participant brings food and drink for sharing by all. People constantly feel thirsty and hungry as they ceaselessly discuss between each other. After all, the event is one of the best ways to get to know other people and make new friends!
If you are interested, join the next one, sometime in November. The posting will come up in due time, some time before long from now. Certain people of the last time are intending to join already. The place will be in Geneva, not far from the railway station.
Best. Kaz
