glocals Musical-Chairs Dinner, March 16, GVA

I just love these dinners.

We were 80 folks, and I had the impression the vibes were great.

Thanks to everyone who joined, and to Mandarin Oriental's Le-Sud resto for having us.

What did you think?

So Nir

As I would love to give my feedback but couldn't cause I'm on the wrong side of 40 my question is:

Do we have to wait for you to be 40 to have a Senior Citizen's Musical Chairs Dinner ?

Most of us oldies still have our own teeth and can manage to eat other foodstuffs apart from soup and porridge.

We want yummy chocolate cake too.

Come on Amigo ...Give the dog a bone!!

Robi:

Well put, in a witty way...admit it, Marina wrote that for you, no? (-.

But the point is well taken, and the next Dinner will be open to all ages.

We'll have some porridge and pre-chewed-up food on hand...(-:

Thanks Nir!

About suggestions, what about sharing the group contact and jobs details before the diner so we can have the lotery part during the diner with all the unexpected meetings and also some free time after diner to met people in the same work area.

First time at Musical Chair, and I loved it. Really nice initiative and well executed. And I have to commend Le Sud for the delicious vegetarian meal. Those are rare!

Would it perhaps be possible to have four changes of table, not just three (which does not necessarily mean that we must have four courses)? It would be nice to get the opportunity to meat even more people that way.

Thank you so much for a great evening. Smile (and in the next e-mail to participants perhaps you should inform people that the hotel only take Mastercards, not Maestro Wink)

Really very nice, Nir!

...as these musical-chairs dinners usually are.

Although I was the only one taking seriously the dress code (I was the only one wering a tux) I didn't feel too embarrassed and I had a great evening meeting real fun people!

GIVE US MORE!!

Thanks

Yes Nir

You guessed, Marina is branching out and starting a business providing witty postings for dumb humourless glocals like yours truly.

Send her a PM and she will give you the details.

As for the over 40's M C dinner I think that it will be sometime coming, so I won't hold my breath.

I love that idea, thanks. Next time we'll ask people, when they register, to also write 1-2 interesting things about themselves. Then we'll print it, and share with everyone during the night.

Andrea:
You were the only one with a tux, true, but that only made you even more of a star! Was great seeing you again my friend.

Dao:
'Being like it was when you were a student' is good or bad? (-:

Thanks for the feedback everyone, much appreciated.

Well.... it was my first time ever at a musical chairs event ...... and I enjoyed it so much.

As Nir said in his email : he collapsed around 23h and left without saying goodbye!! Well many of us did...
We basically spent 2hours together.... changed tables twice..... and that is it!

I wish the event was longer, involved activities other than just eating and drinking.... something like social games, making small teams and playing for a prize ..

Why not have longer events where people have a better chance to mingle and acquaint with each other ?

We all had to run from work to the event, and then run from the event to bed to be able to work on the next day early morning..

Why not have a similar but more relaxed event on a week-end ?

Many people I met there were very interesting to know... but really there was no time to ...

Kim, Sarayah, Aurélie, Carolyne, Las, Nicolas, Andrea, Sandrine, Charlotte, Maria, Tatiana, Kevin, .... and those whom I can't remember their names now .... (forgive me... ) were all nice people I wish I had more time to get to know better.

I luckily stole a few business cards from a couple of guys and would try to meet them again ....

Marc:

Wow, seems like you net at least 12 new people...not bad at all! (-:

Just to put the facts right: the event started at 20h and went until midnight, and if you felt that was short for a dinner, then you have faaar more patience than most people. And we switched tables 3 times, not 2.

As for doing social games during the night: we tried it a few times, and received feedback from most people that they prefered to just let the evening flow 'naturally', without us intervning with games. But maybe we just didn't try the right games. Happy to consider any concrete ideas if some come up.

i thought the evening was superb: the food was excellent, the wine kept flowing and everyone was there with a smile on their faces.  Can't fault it - I would agree it would be good to know who was attending in advance or to have a list of their glocals names since its impossible to guess!

Hey Nir,

The location, the food and the service was great and the people who attended were very nice also.

Very well organised so a big thank you for all your efforts.

Only one point which I think could be improve on next time and that is the day, I think because i went to the last event, i noticed that this time the people were abit more tame and i think thats because on a tuesday night, you have to worry about work the next day so you cant really go all out. Thursdays and Fridays, i think are better days, as then people are more relaxed, winding down and don't mind going out for drink together after the event to continue thier night and develope friendships.

HUGE THANKS AND SUCCESS FOR THE PROCEEDING EVENTS.

Shame I missed this one, apparently you guys had a great time.

Although I get the impression of the 3 (or is it 4) musical chairs dinner I've been too that the menus are always vegetarien - Any chance of having a menu that is not vegetarien, with of course an option for those that are not carnivores!

Cheers

All:

Thanks for the continued feedback and ideas.

Cindy:
Name tags it is next time.

Angelos / Tanya:
We'll try for a weekend day next time. Prob is that most restos are already full on weekends, and the only way they'll agree to reserve the entire place for us is we increase the price significantly (which we don't want to do). But we'll give it our best shot.

Simon:
I'll ensure next dinner there is a nice meaty main course for folks like me and you...(-:
